news stories like this should be investigated because they risk undermining trust between the police and the public. If true the police need to be prosecuted fully and in a relatively quick manner to prove to the people that no one is above the law.
and if the news media is peddling fake news that slanders the police, they should be prosecuted for slander (speaking lies) and/or libel (publishing written lies). A one year jail sentence and $1000 fine to the news broadcaster (owner of the news channel) and to the presenter. Hold them to the same international standards and punishments.
