1.5 million people receiving BISP cash grants in Sindh

KARACHI: Senate Standing Committee on Cabinet Secretariat and Capital Administration and Development meeting was held in the Conference Room of Sindh Chief Secretary office, on Tuesday on Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP).
The meeting was chaired by Senator Kalsoom Parveen of the Standing Committee and attended by Senator Abdul Haseeb Khan, Senator Saeeda Iqbal, Sher Khan, Secretary BISP, Zafarullah Soomro, DG BISP Sindh, MD STEVTA and other officers of BISP. Secretary BISP Sher Khan and Director General Zafarullah Soomro briefed the Committee on the BISP initiatives in Sindh.
Khan said that more than 4.8 million families are receiving the monthly cash grant of Rs1,000 and apart from the cash grant, BISPs other initiatives include vocational and technical training, waseela-e-rozgar, Interest-Free Returnable Financial Assistance, Waseela-e-Haq, Health and Life Insurance, Waseela-e-Sehet, Primary Education (Conditional Cash Transfer), Waseela-e-Taleem and Emergency Relief and Hangami Maali Imdad.
Meanwhile, Soomro, during the briefing informed that 1.5 million beneficiaries are receiving cash grants in Sindh. ppi
