Devyani Khobragade issue not closed yet, India tells US

Yup. The move would also grant such staff working abroad protection from abuse and secure wages. Everybody wins.

Devyani Khobragade issue not closed yet, India tells US

Sure. However, it is their system and would be solely their prerogative if or what they want changed. Sure as I wouldn't want any American coming and lecturing us about the inherent flaws of the Indian legal system and the laws they want thrown out, I would extend the same courtesy to their way...

Devyani Khobragade issue not closed yet, India tells US

Hmmm...I wonder which one of them would be upheld in an American court? American law or Indian logic? :P To answer your other query, India intends to register all domestic help provided to diplomats overseas as government employees thereby not having to conform with American wage standards. So...

Devyani Khobragade issue not closed yet, India tells US

In the absence of any written understanding between the two nations, citing common practice is neither a sound legal defense or even any measure to quash legal proceedings against a person. Of course, there's no moral or legitimate riders on Devyani not paying her maid a higher salary than...

Devyani Khobragade issue not closed yet, India tells US

To be fair, "everyone else is doing it so why single me out?" is also a flimsy excuse. With this incident, India is ironing out the paperwork and salary issues with their staff so some good did come out of it. Bitter medicine, but medicine nonetheless.

For those of you who hate HALAL MEAT :)

Erm...you do realize that in order to raise animals for the purpose of slaughter, you would need to feed them? After all, cows don't fatten themselves on air and rainbows, right? So when you down a steak, you are in effect consuming all the resources that took to bring that t-bone on your plate...

INS Vikrant gets another breather from Supreme Court

What figures? What report? And to conclude, it was the state government that chipped in with zero military budget!!! And so the question arises on when how and why should be the Indian Navy would be stiffed with bill like you assume it to be. Keying in @Capt.Popeye for some insight.

INS Vikrant gets another breather from Supreme Court

Nonsense. What specific liabilities were the Indian Navy held accountable to? And since when was INS Vikrant out of state care? You do realize the political backdrop of all this, don't you? How Bal Thackeray threw the INS Vikrant a lifeline Sandeep Unnithan | Mail Today | Mumbai, November...

INS Vikrant gets another breather from Supreme Court

For the government to exact payment from the armed forces(their budgets, to be specific) for the upkeep of any memorials. This has never happened before so yeah.... you're pretty much painting a bullshit scenario.

INS Vikrant gets another breather from Supreme Court

Dude, this is a significant piece of history that we're talking about. Even if the proposed memorial doesn't go through, think about the decades of seafaring and professionalism of the Indian Navy which simply is unmatched to any world power when it comes to aircraft carriers. Even China, a...

Interesting! U.S state department's report about American Muslims

I'd be concerned about the **** I download than any militant plot!!! That said, the Palestinian issue is seen, in both India's and the rest of globe's viewpoint, as a fundamental human rights affair and not any extremist religious conflict. Nobody can harass you for any political view on the...

Interesting! U.S state department's report about American Muslims

Nothing to fear unless you've something to hide!!! I'm certain you have never stated anything extremist like our "more Muslim than anyone else" Pakistani brethren. Being an atheist, I'd support all and any conversations instigated by religious institutions to be monitored.

Interesting! U.S state department's report about American Muslims

Untrue. American authorities, understandably, did single out Mohammedans for scrutiny and interrogation. Unfortunately, the courts sided with the law enforcement agencies and deemed their actions right. Business & Financial News, Breaking US & International News | Reuters.com

Shamefully ignored by authorities, Salomi kills self(wife of Prof. T J Joseph)

I fail to see how abuses could be subjective. Unless it has wildly different connotations in Kerala, calling someone an SOB is regarded as an abuse anywhere in India, regardless of the intended humor behind it. Was I personally offended by the passage? Not really. But it was the language and not...
