Premier Silvio Berlusconi hailed the Italian diplomat killed Friday in suicide attacks in Afghanistan as a faithful servant to the government who died doing his job.
The premier identified the slain diplomat as Pietro Antonio Colazzo.
Kabul Police Chief Abdul Rahman Rahman told reporters in...
time is right for 1 maybe 2 Indian army brigades to be deployed to Afghanistan.
Our government can spare these. A stable Afghanistan free from Taliban influence is in India's interest. Afghanistan is culturally and historically linked to India with it's Buddhist culture (Bamiyan Buddhas) and...
The Taliban claimed responsibility and Hamid Karzai, the Afghan president, said the attacks appeared to be aimed at Indian government officials and medical workers.
Three Afghan police were killed, and six more officers were among the 38 people wounded in what was described as a well-planned...
BBC Pashto Kabul bureau editor Dawood Azami found himself caught up amid explosions and gunfire which rocked the centre of the city leaving at least 17 people dead. Here he describes his experiences.
A huge explosion woke me up just before sunrise. An intense gun battle followed and bullets...
I hope this attack has done a lot to improve security in Pakistan. The doctors, teachers and tabla players were dangerous men out to terrorize Pakistanis and Afghans.
The only thing lost here are innocent lives and killing of men who were sent on Afghanistan on a mission to help build a new...
The deceased Indians were identified as Major Dr Laishram Jyotin Singh of Army Medical Corps, Major Deepak Yadav of Army Education Corps, engineer Bhola Ram, tabla player Nawab Khan, staffer of Kandahar Consulate Nitish Chibber and ITBP constable Roshan Lal, Indian embassy sources said...
@Abu Zolfiqar - i think everyone wants to see a stable and prosperous Afghanistan.
If we apply your standard of live and let live.. Taliban erred when they supported al-Qaeda and pan-Islamic radical groups like LeT etc. who were involved in terrorist activities. No wonder Afghanistan was...
@Jana.. we did support the invasion of Afghanistan - but so did your country Pakistan and pretty much every other country in this world. Iraq is off topic.
If you are sure of Karzai government's involvement with Indian agencies.. why is it your business to stop this involvement ? Let Afghans...
@Jana, Fire Fighter - those Indian officers were in Kabul with the permission of the Afghan government. No one can justify their killings.
@Jana - Pretty weak defence of your logic of hitting others across borders. Suicide bombing and terrorism - a cowardly way of eliminating your enemies too...
@Righteous Fire - thanks for derailing the thread with a picture of Mr Bal Thackerey.. geez his fan following is greater in Pakistan than in India :)
@AM - interesting theory .. Could be true .. I don't think this will increase hostility from India and cause anything on your Eastern front...
@Jana - interesting .. you seem to advocate cross border strikes against Indians in Afghanistan - they are fair game in your view as they are terrorists who are harming Pakistani interests. Afghan government and people take a hike - you Pakistanis will take them out.
By the same logic India and...
hmm.. Wasn't it Pakistan who clamped down on TV channels when there was an attack on the GHQ ?
This is a welcome step - much overdue. Curbs on the media in times of crisis are correct. Terrorists should not be given an opportunity to air their views. Can you or me get on TV and talk about...
Mr. X - when will Afridi mature ;).. Sehwag was always a classical batsman. He scored a century on debut in Tests against South Africa in SA.
Just because he scores quickly - you can't brand him as a slogger or immature .. like Mr. Afridi!
hmm.. interesting - the capability of HAL is been called in serious question again! Mig 21s had a much better record before overhauling at HAL facilities.
Seems like it's not the original plane or the pilot that are at fault. It's shoddy overhauling by HAL.
Btw - the grounding is only temporary...
hmmm.. interesting .. I heard the Russians were stopping production of the Su-33 fighters in favour of Mig 29Ks. With Indian Navy giving orders for Mig29Ks it was more cost effective to stick to only one type of carrier borne aircraft.
Was wondering if someone can offer a comparison between the...
