After the Asian tsunami India did not accept any aid from outside - the need was dire - many thousands were killed in Andamans and Tamil Nadu. India helped other Asian nations to a very large extent. Sri Lanka, Maldives and Indonesia can testify to this fact.
And India's disaster...
@ Jana - yes India is drawing closer to the US. It is a worrying trend - the US is an unreliable ally - we are breaking off relations with Iran due to this love of the US. The Iran - Pakistan - India pipeline was scuppered due to US pressure. Creating economic interdependence between India , Pak...
Was wondering if anyonehere shares my passion forthe English Premier League and Arsenal football club.
We have a defining match against Chelsea this weekend. Arsenal have suffered many injuries but I'm hoping we can defeat the Blues to get our season back on track!
Emirates stadium has been...
Iam especially iterested to know about the performance of Cobra copters in CI ops in Waziristan. Are the numbers too small to make a difference ? Soviet Hinds were very successful in Afghanistan till Stingers made an appearance. Are Cobras fighting well ?
Regarding copters - why doesn't Pak...
Aeri - Eye I hope you can post with a little less emotion next time. See media reports are not always reliable. After talking to some people working in the media I know this for a fact that many stories are exaggerated or cooked up.
Could it not be possible that the fan died of natural...
@taimikhan - that's interesting news ! If pilots enjoy flying a plane it's a good sign. Kudos to JF-17. Nice to see that Pak will be less dependent on US planes for it's defence. You might have found them an unreliable partner ? Am i right ?
I hope India doesn't opt for US made jets !
that may be true Jana - but lets not jump the gun. Sri Lanka has a long way to go in cleaning up after the civil war - that is the more immediate concern as the article reflects. I have admired the way Sri Lanka has managed to balance ties with India, Pak and China. All 3 countries are good...
mr Sri lankan - the report no where says that China will launch a Sri Lankan satellite. It says that technical and financial assistance will be provided.
India would be concerned at this development. Btw - I think Sri Lanka can be an excellent place to launch satellites from - Proximity to the equator promises that it can be an important launch site. Do the Chinese intend to setup base in Sri Lanka for this aim ?
As per specs JF17 seems to be a capable 4th generation fighter jet. How satisfied are the Pakistanis that these jets will replace F-7s and Mirages in their fleet ?
Sarabjit Singh may or may not be an Indian spy - I believe the Pakistanis want to release him in exchange for some militants in Indian jails. Our government would not like this to happen.
Many Pak, Kashmiri militants are in Indian jails at the moment. Proving a case like terrorism is difficult...
We have to thank our Bangladeshi friends for that capture. Even Marshal Maneckshaw said that the Pakistanis fought excellently in Bangladesh - but they had no local support and were thousands of miles from home.
Lets stick to the story of this heli in Gilgit.
The Indian Army has had the better...
Both sides have captured each other's military equipment in Wars.
I have personally seen several captured Patton tanks displayed in Indian Army messes across India.
96 Pak tanks were captured after the battle of Assal Uttar alone. Pakistani forces also captured 15 tanks in this battle.
It's sad to see Bangladeshis listening to absurd conspiracy theories about India. India is not interested in undermining the sovereignty of Bangladesh - it is a democratic country which is likely our friend and ally - both our countries suffer from poverty, illiteracy and religious extremism...
@KillBill - Yes I think I need to correct myself - I was only counting the launch of INSAT 4CR as the only geostationary sat launched by ISRO.
The correct answer is 3 satellites - KALAPANA - I, EDUSAT and INSAT 4CR.
Still GSLV is not a proven platform for geo-stationary sat launches.
hmm..The name of the documentary is fundamentally incorrect. Pakistan does'nt occupy an inch of the Siachen glacier which is under Indian control. Indian soldiers occupy the dominating features since 1984.
Nevertheless - soldiers from both sides have been extremely brave to battle their enemy...
Sometimes we Indians need to swallow ourpride and admit we have a long way to go to catch up with China, Europe and US.
Here is a comparison of launch systems of the world. Indian systems are good only for medium launches - PSLV.
Comparison of heavy lift launch systems - Wikipedia, the free...
I repeat India has launched only one Geo-stationary satellite in it's history. The GSLV is not a proven platform for Geo-stationary sat launches.
I'm sure if BD requires help and asks ISRO - ISRO will provide help. But BD needs to decide whose help it wants. China has good capabilities in...
