I think this should be titled "Iran could have been the Germany of the Middle East."
Had it not been for the Islamic Revolution isolating Iran and turning a civilized, open society a tad bit backwards (Don't yell at me for this guys. I say Iran's going backwards not because of the strength...
Is it that the Lebanese Army isn't politically strong enough to assert itself or is it just a matter of tactically being weaker? I mean, it's not like Hezbollah has armored vehicles and helicopters and such.
Haha. I'm not a Kemalist, I'm a Nationalist. Regardless.
I have a very different, unorthodox opinion on the Kurdish issue. I think Turkey can solve its Kurdish problem by allying with Kurds in Syria and Iraq, supporting them and creating a Kurdish state that doesn't harm Turkey's unity. This...
Wow. I didn't know other parts of the world had different weekends haha. Makes sense though, since the Saturday-Sunday weekend is Christian (sunday is holy day) then I don't see why saudi arabia wouldn't have friday, being a holy day, part of the weekend
You bring up a good point and this worries me about Saudi Arabia too now that Turkey has closer ties with the Saudis. Do they want a monarchical, sunni, Saudi-led Middle East? I'll pass.
A lot has changed since the days of the Iran-Iraq war or the Gulf War. I think the Gulf War really shook the Saudis and caused them to take their defense more seriously
I agree and as a Turk who isn't so hostile to Iran, I'm gonna weigh in on what you just said.. (Because I dont think KSA is a giant but Iran shouldnt be one to criticize IMO)
-You're right about the Rev. Guards being able to train militants by themselves. (+1 Iran, tho this isn't necessarily...
Split Anbar between Syria, Jordan and KSA. Expand regional government to a full blown Kurdish state backed by Turkey. Shiites can have the rest and hangout with Iran. I'm not a supporter of sectarianism and i couldn't give a rats a** which decedents of Muhammad you support.
If you're gonna...
Vast majority in EU do not give a dime if a bedouin lives or dies.
Did they care in Kosovo? No. Libya? No. Iraq? No. Korea? no. Vietnam? No. Countries don't actually care about people living or dying, I doubt that's part of their decision making.
Turkey is about to join EU, so it needs to...
I don't think so. They're probably still working on the conceptual design and I think it's mentioned in the article because the official announcement of fighter design plans probably made the Özgür mission computer a more important project to be sped up.
I agree. It says we're selling the "technicaly foundation" so not a finished product which must mean its an arab state. we would have just sold the gear off the shelf otherwise
I agree with the first part but from my view as a Turk i would make a small change. I wouldn't say there's military parity but more so a stalemate, in the sense that yes Azerbaijan might be a little stronger but not stronger enough to make it worth resuming hostilities.
I think that Turkey...
Well in that case wouldn't it just be a better idea to send in the Army? Because while much cheaper to send in light infantry logistically speaking, the rebels provide plenty of that, though definitely not at the same level of quality.
