Air Superiority fighters comparision and requirement analysis.

I wouldn't so casually underestimate the capabilities of SD-10. For one, the Chinese use both R-77 and SD-10. R-77 is for use on their MKK/MKK2. SD-10 is to be used on J-10B and J-11B (the top fighters). That alone should tell you about SD-10 capabilities because China isn't going to...

JF-17 Thunder Multirole Fighter [Thread 3]

No. From what I understand, all models of the Su-30 series can only provide half of the power required for the Irbis-E radar. Currently, only Su-35 and Su-37 have enough power to support this. So Su-30MKI might very well get a new radar for MLU, but it probably won't be this one.

Air Superiority fighters comparision and requirement analysis.

Many would say the F-15 is the undisputed combat proven air superiority fighter. But even this is misleading. Most of these wars were against countries who aren't going to be able to put up much of a fight and so it doesn't matter what planes you use against them.

Fears grow that PLA may test 'carrier killer'

Well the type-54 frigates have been compared to French La Fayette class frigates. The type-52B destroyers are said to comparable in capabilities to the Sovremenny but with a stealthier hull, so the 52C's and the 51C's should be more advanced. True. The numbers I gave for PLAN included...

Fears grow that PLA may test 'carrier killer'

Debatable. MKI: Obvious advantages are Radar and Maneouverability. Radar can be countered by AWACS and maneouverability isn't too important with highly agile BVR and HMS/Off Bore-sight missiles. Brahmos only has speed. Being supersonic throughout entire flight means lots of fuel...

Fears grow that PLA may test 'carrier killer'

Sure, but what if the Indians think that you are launching a nuke instead of a conventional warhead??? Better to use subs to counter aircraft carrier for now.

Its Official: JXX is going to test fly in the next few days

Sure you can. F-117 was secret until it was used to bomb Iraq - long after it entered service. There were only rumours of J-10 since late 90's and early 2000's but no pictures until 2007 - Nearly 3 years after entering service!!!! And this is China we're talking about - If they want...

Its Official: JXX is going to test fly in the next few days

And since when are top secret projects officially publicised just to satisfy your curiosity?

Another provocation by Chinese, deploying troops and building barracks near India

That's total crap. There are many different ethnic groups that live in the himalayan region. The lack of oxygen can be overcome by acclimatization to high altitude.

Another provocation by Chinese, deploying troops and building barracks near India

You're the one who needs your eyes tested. The first part of the report is about applying scientific knowledge to soldier training. Nothing in it suggests anything provocative. Oh wait............there's 1 mention of 'Indian border' in the whole report, therefore this MUST definitely be...

The Stealth In India's Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft

Try this..... Russia uses an improved version of the original Flanker which is a single seat air-dominance fighter. Su-30 is a advanced 2 seat multi-role fighter. Until a few years ago, Russia was exporting more advanced fighters than it was using in its own inventory.

The Stealth In India's Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft

The tail fins on these designs look kind of odd. They are swept back and are more like 4th Gen tail fins as opposed to the trapezium-shaped tail fins that you find in other 5 gen designs. Don't know how this might affect stealth, but worth pointing out none-the-less.

The Stealth In India's Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft

Engines are ready. It is J-10B variant that PAF is getting - first flight late 2008, so not 17 years but more like 7 years:yahoo:.

The Stealth In India's Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft

Just responding to your previous statement which makes it sound like you will get these 250 FGFA overnight. Why does PAF need to worry when you won't get 250 till 2035? BTW, don't underestimate the Chinese either, just because they don't publicly display prototypes like the Russians...

The Stealth In India's Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft

Looking at India's track record, you received your first MKIs in 2002. By 2015 you will have 280 (assuming everything goes to plan and there are no delays/problems). How long do you think it will take to induct 250 PAK-FA/FGFA - 2030??? By then I dare say 6th gen will be well into...

PLAAF has not Endorsed JF17 Thunder

The 100 odd Su-30MKK/MKK2 are geared towards the strike role as well so more air-to-air and point defence fighters are necessary.

PLAAF has not Endorsed JF17 Thunder

400 J-8? Aren't they a bit obsolete? Isn't that what J-10 is supposed to replace? Why not have JF-17 to replace the 500 J-7s

PLAAF has not Endorsed JF17 Thunder

J-11A/Su-27/30 induction has finished - My take on this is that they were a stop gap measure until more advanced platforms were matured like J-10/J-10B and J-11B.

JF-17 Thunder Multirole Fighter [Thread 3]

I thought those figures were for KLJ-7 radar??!! KLJ-7/10 Fire Control Radar (FCR) (China) - Jane's Avionics KLJ-10 should be greater.
