Miserable condition of Sheikh Zaid Hospital Lahore

We want the free NHS like UK but pay (no) tax like in Dubai ;p Problem is people consider "insurance" haram, so medical insurance can't get a foothold. People like jobs with "medical", but don't understand that that "medical" is just medical insurance paid for by employer (govt etc) from your...

HERALD SURVEY: Majority to vote for PTI if elections were held tomorrow

1- I'm sure many would vote PTI, but how many would vote *at all*? In 2013, there was MASSIVE fervour, people actually took out tickets and flew from abroad, entire families came out to vote, esp women, who usually ignore "mens games". If vote was held tomorrow, the total vote count would be...

Few ‘thousands’ cannot defeat ‘millions’, believes PM

I know, I was talking about the other two projects mentioned in that link, the Islamabad Metro and Karachi Metro, they were rejected before the saudi gift, now suddenly we have those two and others.

Few ‘thousands’ cannot defeat ‘millions’, believes PM

There is this misconception the government "allocated" these funds out of their own resources. And thus, if government has capacity to allocate these, then why not on Dam? But it DIDN'T! Government has no money (certainly NOT to this extent), govt actually said there will be NO metro etc last...

Why Muslims should avoid Northern Sweden during Ramadan

In Kiruna (Sweden), the fast is for 23 hrs, so you only have one hour to eat or drink.

Govt's 'delay' of Bhasha Dam till 2037, represents an 'existential threat' to Pakistan.

^^ Brother, I don't disagree that dams are awesome, merely that we simply CANNOT make BIG dams from our saving, no matter how much we save! For example, they will have to purchase loads of land, houses etc, because entire villages will be drowned by the dam. That's a heavy expense BEFORE even...

Govt's 'delay' of Bhasha Dam till 2037, represents an 'existential threat' to Pakistan.

Dear, if we could "spare" 1.4 billion DOLLARS a year, we wouldn't be so overjoyed at getting $1.5 bn from saudia! And where would we spare it from? You consider the "size" of our budget, but our expenses far outweigh our income, we have no capacity to spare! ---- And hilariously enough, the...

Govt's 'delay' of Bhasha Dam till 2037, represents an 'existential threat' to Pakistan.

Um, hint, all those infrastructure projects run billions of rupees, while the dam costs billions of DOLLARS. There is simply NO comparison in costs. No matter how many projects we cut, simply CAN'T reach the goal. We NEED foreign help... and NO one will give billions of dollars for a dam in a...

Imran Khan declares his assets and tax payments

They were married then, there is no assumption it is automatically assumed couples share assets. Again, I was just giving an example of UK law to explain the idea, I'm not sure what Pakistani law is, but I think it might be similar. I don't know about SMQ. Here is what I found:

PM Nawaz announces Rs15b for metro bus project in Karachi

KCR is being funded by JICA of Japan, consider this a bonus ;p But the fact of the matter is, KCR is simply an issue of removing encroachments, which CDGK needs to do. ---- ---- Instead of multiple threads, can we focus on one? Admin should merge this with the earlier thread: PM Nawaz...

PM Nawaz announces Rs15b for metro bus project in Karachi

If PTi and PMLN can swallow their collective egos, I'm sure Govt could be asked to fund one in Peshawar too. And quetta for that matter.

Imran Khan declares his assets and tax payments

That's the problem, isn't it? no party is truly grass roots. I guess in PTI's favour, if someone does start from grass roots, theoretically they will be able to move up, due to their democratic structure, let's see if it happens in practice.

Imran Khan declares his assets and tax payments

Ah that makes sense. I don't know about Pakistan law, but under UK tax law, it's legal to something like this, basically a married couple have joint assets, so internal transactions don't matter. (It's perfectly legal to divvy up assets so that each partner has to pay minimal tax)

Imran Khan declares his assets and tax payments

As I said, CDA rates don't reflect reality. Not that I'm disagreeing with you, Islamabad property rates are absurd, but for tax purposes, you use the official rate at which the property was registered and transfer fees collected. But also, just how big is this "flat"? And why does he even...

Imran Khan declares his assets and tax payments

I also recall him saying that Jemima gifted him land. I'm a bit hazy on details, but maybe she bought some other piece of land? Or may be she gave the money to make the house?

Imran Khan declares his assets and tax payments

Maybe he is quoting the "CDA" rate? There are two rates of land in pakistan, one which you buy/sell in, the other which you register your property one, which is always lower, and based on CDA estimates of the area. For example, I recall going to a property dealer in Chatta Bakhtawar...

Imran Khan declares his assets and tax payments

If I recall correctly, Jemima gifted it to him, I think it was her flat or something like that.
