Cong advises PM not to visit Pak

I think MMS should pay an unofficial visit to Nanakana Sahib Gurudwara. It can be useful to improve atmospherics even if no concrete goals are achieved. At least it may decrease support for extremism among the population.

    On Insulting Muslims

You may be right, but there are tons of holocaust denial blogs and youtube videos - Robert Faurisson, David Irving, David Duke, Ernst Zundel etc. They do get thrown into jail from time to time, but the videos are still viewable from the US, if not from Europe.

    Nathu La Pass

The Nathu-La route is closed for 6 months in a year because of snow. The approach road is quite precarious, especially on the Indian side where it has to go through very steep mountains. There is a need to open the Stillwell road from North-East India to Kunming in Yunnan province. It should...

    US ambassador 'killed in Libya'

You can disagree with them and you can refuse to watch the film but they have the right to free expression. But I do blame the US, France and other western nations for the whole Libyan fiasco.

India Developing, but still a long way to go

The elites loot while giving false visions of hope to the middle class. I would be more interested in seeing affordable housing for the working class. Reliable supply of clean drinking water, decent public transit. Ahmedabad's BRTS project is one of the genuinely beneficial schemes.

State Department Blacklists Militant Haqqani Network

The US is very forgiving when it comes to Pakistan, let's wait and see how this develops. From the OP -

    India’s vanishing Parsis

I haven't heard of Sarvast, but there is the Sanskrit word Sarvatra, which is closely related to Sarva.

    India’s vanishing Parsis

Ahaa ... Harvesp seems to be a related to the Sanskrit Sarva, which means all or everything. In linguistic evolution, S often gets replaced by H. Another direction in which Sarva has evolved is Sarva -> Sarba -> Sab, which is the colloquial Hindi word.

Israel, use India to pressure Iran

The author of the piece, Kapil Komireddy, is a well known fool. Why should an Indian write an article in an Israeli paper, telling the Israelis what to do.

Mamata bans IPS officer’s book critical of her Muslim policy

Amazing ... As it is Mamata is highly communal individual who practices vote bank politics ... yet there are folks for whom all the appeasement is insufficient. How low the land of Ramakrishna and Vivekananda has sunk.

    vishvas

Vishwas is a Sanskrit word. Pakistan's native languages Sindhi and Punjabi are also based on Sanskrit. So is Urdu, which was created by taking the pre-Islamic Khadi Boli dialect of the upper Ganga valley and embedding some borrowed Persian and Arabic words.

Egyptian Revolution failed: Mubarak is still in power.......

Assad still seems to have a fair amount of support, even from Sunnis. For example, Aleppo is a Sunni majority city that is mostly backing Assad.

Pakistani Taliban release video of 12 severed heads.

I hardly think they would take money from Kaffirs. RAW is not so talented.

Pakistani Taliban release video of 12 severed heads.

Good lord man, you have actually been in action against these chaps? It is amazing how human beings can become so indoctrinated and vicious.

    We should avoid such generalizations.

Message for PM of India: Avoid cosying up to Iran

See, you are the best judge of your national interests. But it does seem that the Iranian leadership is making things more difficult by getting involved in peripheral issues. As far as India is concerned, our interest is best served if Iran is not in conflict with other nations.

Message for PM of India: Avoid cosying up to Iran

Even if what you want is "only" the destruction of the regime, it will certainly be regarded as a hostile intention. Perhaps it would be better to remain focused self-defense. In any case the Palestinians do not seem to be particularly appreciative of your efforts.

Message for PM of India: Avoid cosying up to Iran

Doesn't Iran call for the collapse of the state of Israel? I am sympathetic to every nation's right to independence and self-defense, but why go looking for trouble.
