The so-called "violent repression" is mostly concocted. At the most there one or two incidents of repression related to the idiosyncrasies of some individual minor ruler, nothing like the religiously motivated systematic persecution of Buddhists by Islamic iconoclasts.

One should avoid making generalizations about groups, each individual is different and that individuality should be respected.
In the case of Muslims we have seen how there is a systematic effort to stifle debate and keep the common Muslim in ignorance.
It is not the failure of Muslims, it is the failure of India to allow honest and free discourse. We love to empower the most regressive elements in the Muslim community, and encourage a constant state of victim-hood and turmoil.
The first step is to be able to speak honestly. It is not that Muslims are inherently antagonistic, but they are victims of dishonesty that prevents them from understanding their history. See my previous post.
Here is a good analysis of the libel being spread by the Holocaust deniers - it a Chapter from volume 2 of the book "Hindu Temples - what happened to them" by ARUN SHOURIE, HARSH NARAIN, JAY DUBASHI, RAM SWARUP and SITA RAM GOEL

There was a certain degree of re-absorption, but it happened peacefully, after the Buddhist clergy were not able to justify themselves in debates with Adi Shankaracharya.
But the death blow to Buddhism in India came from the Islamic warriors, who proudly described themselves as "But-Shikan"...
Is there any hope of turning this vast majority in the lower classes away from Islamism. Clearly Imran is not the solution, he is part of the Islamist elite.
Or perhaps this vast majority believes that salvation lies in more Islamism?
Minoritarians need to fabricate myths of intra-Indic temple destruction in order to deny the Holocausts of past centuries. However, a lot of good work has already been done to expose these Goebbelsian machinations.
This is a wrong attitude.
Obviously India will have to go on building capabilities in many dimensions.
However, rather than any overt war, the danger is that extremism will damage Pakistani society from inside.
A current example of how the Roman Catholic Church acts on behalf of western political and corporate interests is the agitation against the Kudankulam nuclear power plant. The western bloc is not happy to see the Russian plant being built, and they are not happy with the Indian nuclear liability...
The Roman Catholic Church is also a political vehicle, albeit somewhat more restrained than the Pentecostals. It would be best for native Christians to have their own Church, and formulate their own doctrines that bring out the Dharmic essence of original Christianity.
I know what you are talking about but IMHO after exposure to Yesu Namaskar, Christian Bharatnatyam (and analogous practices in the west) people will want the originals, together with their philosophical roots.
I agree that Indic nationalism should be broadened.
But we have to understand the deeper issues. The Abrahamic religions have historically been (and even today are) vehicles for political control.
Bishop Desmond Tutu summarized the situation nicely -
In the case of Christianity what is...
It's talking about subtle but measurable changes. For a deeper understanding of the issues this video by Phil Goldberg is highly recommended -
American Veda: How Indian Spirituality Changed the West
One off-topic point ... the saying Sarva Dharma Samabhava is problematic. For one thing Dharma is a term that should be used only for Indic systems of thought. It is not identical to the western concept of religion. Secondly one should be free to decide what bhaava one wants to have towards any...
And the Army Court of Inquiry has has found no evidence against Purohit in the Malegaon case also. It may be that he was maintaining contact with various fringe groups that were up to no good, which was a part of his job.
Be that as it may, one needs to find out if any political interference...
