We (i.e all Bangladeshis including myself) are always on point about this. Our relevant doctrine is formulated that way. Whether we may get trapped in / provoked by other's offensive--is entirely a different issue---part of which lies under the purview of this thread.
Let us focus on the topic.
If you mean 'Offensive' Power, we are not at all dreaming about that nor even when we are awake.
For 'defensive' power, we must do everything within our capacity---not only dreaming alone.
Bunch of lies....Mukti Bahini fought guerilla war all through out Bangladesh all throught the period from end-May/early-June 71. There were some skeleton formations of (just born regular) Armed Forces under the name of Bangladesh Army, Navy & Air Force who also carried out valiant attacks in but...
I thought dalits, naxalites, hungry masses, NE insurgents etc. etc. etc. are the main stumbling blocks for India to be a 'super-power of a sort'---in order to face China.
Now I see that some of them have to learn 'language' also. PDF has just discovered the 'Champion foul-mouth' of this...
Pakistan Irritated at India cos they invaded Kashmir and we did not let it go..who cares for that irritation..
China irritated cos they want our land. Hypocrisy!!
Sri lanka irritated - last time i checked they werent
Nepal - jus because that nut case prachanda hates India doesnt mean that the...
iajdani and leon :
Before you really go for any bet, please read the following excerpts from the posts (#9 & 26) of below-freezing (China/China) in the thread : China’s War Plans for India :

Above...
To you indeed. To them they are struggling for an idelogy--whatever it means to them. Such ideology-centric struggle can not be annihilated by force---negotiation and simultaneous development are the only effective ways.
Otherwise, the collateral damge will be so high that may cause...
That is why I suggested 'Peolpe-oriented' policy to be undertaken. Under that India will have to 'give' something equitable first / simultaneously in accordance to B'deshi peolpes' aspiration / benefit before / while 'taking' something---which will be happily obliged by any party in power...
I wish I could agree with you 100%, Stumper.
1. Countering Pakistan is your right and choice, but not through meddling in a 3rd partys affairsshould be the policy.
People of Bangladesh did and will not like ever any outside influence even on Islamists presence in some parties. Nor you...
Thank you, too.
To elaborate: Grievances that have spoilt the IN-BD relationship are mostly due to (1) Hegemonic interference in internal matters; (2) Dams/barrages on commonly shared rivers without considering the downstream plight; (3) BSF excesses; (4) Some trade barriers ; (5) One-eyed...
......But it is highly unlikely that any of these Giants will let BD be neutral. So to remain neutral we need a strong military to act as a deterrent. Perhaps, you can not be more correct.
.........P.S. : All the above replies are my opinion, so not all are necessarily right. Yet most will...
Please! Please!! Dont be so angry, thebrownguy. eastwatch has truth in his post.
We are grateful to India, and we do appreciate your support for those 10 months of 1971, but that do not absolve us to be stricken by grief for the lots you did later to us over years.
We knew from the very...
Hmm….a fascist mindset—isn’t it ?
1. Why do you like to sacrifice your excellent developments at the altar of fascism—only to turn into a fascist ‘super-power’ ? Do the world has any use for them any further ? Did not the past history give all enough lesson...
Quite fair unbiased pov, eastwatch.
AL would have been more successful---in the backdrop of BNP-JI's immediate past mistakes---if they could do 3 things:
1. Not deteriorating Law & Order by fascist activities
2. Pursue a neutral 'Interest of Bangladesh foremost'-centric foreign policy...
No offence taken, akash57.
About the turning of tide, you might be correct. I was also just asking members' view on this : 'Is the tide turning...?'
However, perhaps, some shift in the water somewhere is notable--if not the tide in full. 'Deterioration of law and order in the country' is...
Ha! Ha!! It is heartening to see you enjoyed GN's comment so much.
Both of you need to stay in today's Bangladesh a year from now to assess the reality in the fabric of a current rally, and under-current flowing therein.
'Holiday' is among few newspapers in Bangladesh which has 45 years' outstanding record of continued publication without veering away from their principle and related line of thoughts. Founded by an outspoken journalist, the late Enayetullah Khan--whose line of thinking I do not always subscribe...
First I thought your predicted statement as above has been aroused upon being bothered by silly comments of some member(s) on 'cracking' Bangladesh as if like a piece of nut---should opportunity arrives.
The statement appeared so stark that I needed a closer look. It revealed that quite a...
