So I know that @Bilal Khan (Quwa) has been going on about how the Navy is doing some really pragmatic and forward-thinking things. Well, I was going through papers and there is DEFINITELY something going on.
So places like NESCOM do publish sometimes. Sometimes directly, sometimes though...
I do wonder though what would had happened if our planners had chosen to invest in "farming" this IP. The realist/pessimist in me thinks something like this would have happened:
UAE and KSA have shown the capacity to make smart investments and manage them well. We have not.
I suspect (read hope) that the PAF decided it wasn't worth lobbing conventional small Ra'ad-lites when you can do the job with IREK and REK-III. Those would certainly be cheaper in the 100-200 km range.
There is a 200-350 km conventional SOW gap but the PAF probably doesn't feel its worth...
Fortunately, I don't think that. I want them to survive and thrive without the military.
Once/if they are big and successful I'm sure the military will go running to them. Or at least I hope.
There is some work in that space too. Remains to be seen how effective it will be.
