the amount of discrepancies which are coming forward now and then do raise a significant question mark on the validity of elections. there is little left as far as the credibility of these elections is concerned even if everything is not taken at the face value.
LAHORE: It seems professional media personnel will have a major role in running the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) as Najam Sethi and Shakil Sheikh, both journalists, were named on Saturday to lead two powerful committees of the Governing Board (GB).
Three committees — titled Executive, Cricket...
After all we need to give time to this system before it delivers. I wonder why didn't we give time to the restoration of judiciary rather than carrying out a long march. IK is doing a great favour to democracy by shaking the govt for her indifference towards accountability.
International players will obvly be more comfortable with ppl who owe them something rather than nothing. Ik does not owe anyone anything except the ppl of Pak. There is a comment by their own embassy staff in this regard which can be found on wiki leaks
my whole disliking for Sethi revolves around his using legal technicalities aimed at supporting an unjustifiable act. There is nothing greater a deception than convincing your audience that you are technically correct.
Now look at this stroke. Devolve powers to the committee and give up PCB...
the historical example of latin america which you are forwarding is again based on the assumptions that somehow people decided to give democracy a chance rather than democrats learning a lesson that they must deliver for democracy to be sustainable.
my contention is not with the argument that...
first of all no where did i support IK's demand of PM's resignation so i wont comment on any of IK related stuff. My argument is that such chaotic atmosphere is a results of govt's own insensitivity to people's demands. And also that the argument of democracy for the sake of democracy is...
I wonder wat sort of a history that was where zero accountability has taken place despite wide scale corruption of the previous govt. I fail to see ppl of Pakistan as beneficiaries of this so called democratic transition.
No one is asking for defect free system. All that is asked for is that the system should show responsiveness to peoples complaints rather than ridiculing them. Where in those successful countries was democracy ever like a family fiefdom with power centralised around family members? In most of...
for democracy to establish itself, it first has to serve the ppl. The argument of ppl putting faith in democracy for the sake of democracy is pointless.
thats the very difference. According to what you have mentioned, US govt did not ridicule the crowd even if their estimation was 16000 and took note of the protest. Unfortunately in Pakistan our so called Democratic govts have ridiculed democracy due to their majoritarian way of governance...
govt is in no mood of engaging these people on their demands. all they have got is mere announcements and gimmickry..
however, i still wonder what next after reaching the Parliament house? a govt so insensitive can even keep you waiting outside the parliament house! what will u do then?
PTI...
i dont think its a point of no return. Media only speaks in the language of boom and bust. The moment IK comes out, everything will return to where he left it. As of now its only point scoring which is going on. but poor management nonetheless
