People need local alternatives that are equal to imported ones. Protectionist policies are okay for short term use, but in long term, companies will produce sub standard mal and know consumers have no choice to buy them.

India has many billionaires, easily can charter plane and import essential supplies. Buy from Russia, Isreal etc.

Dont exaggerate situation in India. If a million die a day in India then coronavirus is 1000 times worse then it is currently is.

States largely rule independently from Central government. Due to oxygen shortages are widespread, states that produce it will look after own requirements first, at expense of non producing states. But then some people see an opportunity to hoard oxygen supplies for a big profit.

The states that have oxygen producing facilities are preventing cross border movement. Delhi CM had to appeal to prime minister to get supplies. The various states of India see each other as rivals. Water disputes are common, now unwilling to coordinate to help each other in current crisis.

Indian states are blocking oxygen supplies to Delhi. No solidarity. Just goes to show how divided India is.

More selfish problem is state governments blocking shipments of oxygen. Seems very unpatriotic to ban shipments to other indians.

All resources should be mobilised. Military is part of Pakistan society, hence should be used. State and non state organisations should be working together. Thankfully we have organisations like Edhi.
