"Moving away from religion i.e turning atheist is a sign of progress and advancement -- I disagree .... what are your views on this ? Do you think religion in life is beneficial and brings solace to the mind or religion is just another hinderance to rationality and progress . and I'm curious -- are you an atheist ?"

Nope it's fine. I am an atheist, though I don't like to be labelled as such. Personalized religion is absolutely fine with me but when people make it into a social movement or make it political, it starts becomes something I feel people should speak out against.

    @ religion in general

I think religion is product of the human mind, to cope with the difficult ideas in life, why we are here, what is the purpose of life, what happens when we die. These are natural questions, but we make up answers and attribute them to the supernatural call it a religion, which I think is self-delusional and a wilful distortion of reality.
I understood what you mean. Some people here in the west have turned away from materialism and sought and are seeking alternative forms of spirituality often finding eastern spirituality to be refreshing and novel compared to traditional Abrahamic religions.

BUT this is largely a marginal portion of society, born out of specific western social movements, initially unrelated to eastern spirituality. Movements such as the 60’s counter culture and now the ‘new age’ movement. They don’t come to the east (and I mean all of eastern religions) because they have seen the light of truth, but because these western social movements have predisposed them to eastern religions (Hinduism and Buddhism being the biggest benefactors)

Note I say this about all eastern religions Chinese ones included (Daoism, Chinese Buddhism, Tibetan Buddhism etc)
I have completed my MBA recently and i am working part time at the moment. What about you? where do you live in India?
Same feelings here bro but i dont think there will be any pressure politically but citizens pressure will surely be there after this land sliding mandate, they will also demand and expect more from her. Lets hope for the best.
