Not really, Russian govt spendings are much higher due to social securities for ageing population.
Infact by 2-3 years their defence spending will be less than ours.

There are reasons that we have been hearing such voices of Russia-Pakistan growing ties. Interesting times ahead. Sooner or later, these ties will not only benefit both countries but the whole region as well. From Afghanistan to countering the threat of terrorism, economical growth to providing opportunities of prosperity, everything is in consideration hence such development that even we will be hearing about Russian participation in CPEC like many others.

Alot of it had to do also with the decline in energy commodities.

again that's not how it works , the gap is too huge . In total spending India can afford more while Indians will have a lower living standards.

Why am I even debating over this , by your logic Qatar & Luxemburg can afford on defence spending than China .

Pakistan, China and Russia getting closer in defense. Are we being pushed into a "same basket".
Because it is said "dont put all eggs in one basket".

On per captia basis Russia is far ahead...and also Russia has enormous untapped potential..thirdly the impact of sanctions will be dissolved once Russia starts utilizing CPEC and this is where the Indian influence on Russia begins to erode...

Don't count red Bear out if it can sustain pressure of its break up from Soviet still it has enough fuel left to dictate USA single handedly

Russia needs food goods and other commodites and Pakistan needs oil and I am sure we can work something out

india has friendly relationship with the whole world except a couple, not only USA
