Pashtuns are genetically connected to South Asia along with the Kalash, Hunza, Baloch, etc. I think you need to get in touch with the times. Your average Pakistani Pashtun is closer to a North Indian than an Iranian. Geography plays a large part.
Read the first or second link. One is an...
I'm not even Pakistani so I could care less about a few Seraiki nationalists. The fact is Seraiki is basically Punjabi with a heavy Sindhi influence.
I hardly doubt 13.5 million Seraiki speakers are nationalists. Anyways, I can't say much about Lahore and its dealings with Southern Punjab. Not...
@HappinessMark!
I don't really care for your Seraiki nationalism. You're entitled to your beliefs and you're right that it is difficult for a standard Punjabi speaker from Lahore or Amritsar to understand Seraiki but the same applies to Pothohari and Pahari dialects up north. That's because...
Do you have a source for that? I've only been told by a Hindi speaking friend that ab is occasionally used as the term for water in Hindi so that's just speculation on my part.
Anyways, my apologies, ap is the Vedic Sanskirt term for water. In traditional Sanskirt, only the plural form apas is...
Seraiki is usually considered a dialect of Punjabi. It definitely has influences from Sindhi though and Seraiki speakers have their own little sub-identity among Punjabis like Pothohari speakers in the north but they aren't unique enough in my opinion to be considered different people.
What's your point? All I was suggesting is that it isn't established fact that Punjab comes from Farsi considered ab is sometimes used in Hindi and ap (related to ab) is used in Sanskirt. That's not very important to the thread anyways.
It's not established fact that the term Punjab is derived from Farsi. Panj is the word for five in Punjabi and Hindi as well. Ab is not traditionally used for water in Punjabi but I've been told ab is occasionally used in Hindi and ap (similar to ab) is the Sanskirt term for water. Since...
Interesting. I didn't hear anything about this in California where I'm pretty sure most American Sikhs (Indian Punjabis) live.
Also, I don't why this thread turned into another "Khalistan this and that" fest. The protests are in response to Congress and how '84 was never closed properly in...
Do you have genetic studies to prove this? There are studies that show Punjabi Jatts and Haryanvi Jatts are very close and different from ethnic Rajasthanis and Uttar Pradeshis. Are Rajasthani or Uttar Pradesh Jats much different from those they live among? Furthermore, they have a different...
I understand what you're saying but from a Punjabi Jatt perspective, we only share ethnicity with other Punjabis (including mountain/hill Punjabis in Himachal Pradesh and Potohar Plateau) and Hindu/Sikh Jatts from Haryana. We consider Hindu Jats (notice Jatt vs. Jat) from Uttar Pradesh and...
I don't know what you're talking about but in the West, male Sikh Punjabis do wear Kurta Pajama (male version of Salwar Kameez) to Weddings, Special Events, etc. if they're not wearing Western Suits. Also, Baba's only wear Kurta Pajama if they aren't wearing western styled clothing.
Also, the...
Sorry to derail this thread a bit but I actually agree with you a bit for once Omar. Although, it's actually more like 4-5% of Indians that share common ethnicity with Pakistanis at least with Punjabis and Kashmiris. Punjabis include those from Greater East Punjab: Indian Punjab, Haryana (Jatts)...
If you would just google Inquiring Mind and troll, you would realize why. He has nothing positive to contribute to this forum and likely has no interest in Pakistan's defense. He is here because he thinks he is some gypsy "Aryan" and that Pakistanis or Indians would accept him as one of their...
