Hi Amir,

The posting was to share with readers that there are hurdles and disabilities in every household. What seperates the ordinary from the extraordinary is how you face them and overcome them.

It was also meant for the reader to show more compassion to the families with disabled---and how do you do that---when you find one of your very own---who is living through this or has lived through this---you become more conscious and concerned---because it is hitting closer to home now.

Why do I say that---because I see a lots of compassion and emotion in this place---I have utmost respect for every member on this board and I know there are a lots of them who reciprocate in the same manner towards me.

So, if we can reach those, who, previously had no experience with anyone with disability, didnot have their lives altered because of the handicap, didnot have any compassion for people with handicap, thought that the disabled were a children of a different God, OR THE PARENTS WERE BEING PUNISHED FOR THEIR SINS---if we could just change this attitude of some of them, I would say that we have then achieved another milestone.

Really sorry to hear about your loss. The pain never really goes away -- even with the passage of time --- some relationships are that way.

However, I am in a way, glad that the discussion was about something in the past.

May God keep you and your loved ones safe.

There is nothing to it now----she passed away almost 40 years ago---it was just the human factor that we were talking about.

Sometimes, something pops up out of the blue and you know what---you say--I have been there---now I can understand the pain of that person better---today I can also acknowledge the pain of my father in a manner thaty I didnot know about at that time.

That is what it was all about---humanity is a people business---you have to reach out and touch someone---and nothing more important than sharing some of our personal stories of hardships---it makes us look human and it makes the young reader conscious.

So many of us have family members with disabilities---and so many of them have to live life and move around feeling embarrassed and humiliated by the constant stares and comments passed around by people---that just to carry the weight of your disabled child in public becomes a nightmare.

So, I wanted to share some part of me with the board members here and I know that out of 25000 strong, some can relate to me---others will look at disabled people in a different manner---that is what it was all about.
