A Small South Asian country with vast military capabilities, Bangladesh has been on media for quite sometimes for it's Military. The capabilities of Bangladesh Armed Forces is well known to it's neighboring forces since Indo-Pak War of 1965, When Bangladesh Army's 1st Bengal Regiment single handed gave Indian Army the most humiliating defeat of their history and how they drove Pakistan out in 1971. However, a recent Military Analysis shows that Bangladesh Army is now more powerful than Ever.

Defenders Paradise
Bangladesh has been labeled as Defenders Paradise by Military Analysts due to It's very strategic layout. According to experts, It is almost impossible for a single country to beat Bangladesh Army at frontal war due to Bangladesh geographic location and Army's clever layout. Further beyond, It is also said that it's two biggest current threat India and Myanmar can't afford to face Bangladesh in a full frontal war. In order for either India or Myanmar to attack Bangladesh, They have to use at least 21 divisions for attack which means India have to bring in Soldiers from It's border with China, Pakistan and Bangladesh, which leaves the whole border almost defenseless. Which will leave Bangladesh Army's guerrilla force totally uncontested to attack into India.

As for Myanmar, It is almost next to impossible to beat Bangladesh Army due to It's army's lack of Experience and weapons.

Submarine Purchase
According to Australian Navy's report, Bangladesh Navy's Submarine purchase is much more than just Patrolling it's maritime boundary. Navy is already received two Ming-Class Submarine which will be placed in newly constructed base near Bangladesh-India Border. Why would Bangladesh Navy purchase aging Ming-Class submarine? Good Question. The reason behind the purchase of two Ming class is to warm up it's Navy before procurement of two more Kilo Class from Russia and Three more classified submarine from Turkey by 2019. So, The navy can brace itself for a fleet consisting seven submarine by 2021.

It is important to know that most of Bangladesh Navy's information and procurement are kept secret until given green signal from Ministry of Defense. Such as the formation of SWADS were kept classified until 2009. There are rumors that Bangladesh Navy is building another special forces named "ODD71", However, all information has been kept intact.

Let me do a correction here, in 1965 Indo-pak war there was no Bangladesh nd Bangladesh army that single handedly humiliated India. It was East Pakistan nd east Pakistan riffiles nd Pakistani army units who defeated India..

There is an interesting story about 1965 that Bangladeshis like to tell every now and then, that the Bengali soldiers jumped in front of the Indian tanks with mines in hand. I would like to know about it more. I guess @asad71 will be able to tell us and also clarify the following post about khemkaran

Why would Bangladesh go to war with India?
it wouldn't that's the whole point... but it would certainly have its response to outside hostility

he is talking about the east bengal regiment most probably

Already i mention my post that was Indo-Pak war in 1965, but the force was from Bengal Regiment is it clear where they belongs now...................

this link should help y'all know more of history... why the east bengal regiment is respected all over the world etc...

@touqeer haq both the punjab and east bengal regiment guarded and defended off lahore... bengali pilots played huge role in ongoing air battles that turned the tide of the war... these are just forgotten contributions.

the Bengali soldiers jumped in front of the Indian tanks with mines in hand! it's true. both punjabi and bengalis saved lahore in 1965.this bengali regiment is widely respected in pakistan.whatever happened in 1971 was probably our mistake.indians already made plans of attacking azad kashmir and east pakistan.we never wanted east pakistan to become bangladesh.we wanted to be united but it's our own mistakes that caused this mess.all i know is that bengali people were very hardworking and provinces in west pakistan, specially punjab, did't pay the bengalis for their hard work.there were many unfortunate things.east pakistan clearly won the election but we did another injustice.we did lots of injustice but india was our common enemy at that time.india will surely pay for 1971 war.if not today, may be tomorrow but they will pay for it.

Well for instance lets assume that india decides to attack bangladesh..
How will that scenario build up ..will india be able to attack or not..
if yes then how..if Can't then why.. Any idea's..

Well when 6 years later those same people become terrorists they are obviously going to be discredited aren't they?

Auther: Dr Faisal Hossain

During the 1965 Indo-Pak War, it was the East Bengal Regiment that saved
Lahore from being over-run by Indian troops.

On September 5, 1965, The Indian Chief of Staff declares that he will have his
next morning tea in Lahore after the onslaught of the Indian troops started in
parallel on the Kasur and Lahore sectors. The 11 Infantry Division raised, on an
ad hoc basis, a few months earlier, had been assigned to defend this sector and
to destroy any Indian break through either from Ferozpur, through Hussainiwala
or via Bedian and Hem Karan, in an effort to outflank Lahore.

The division having been raised during the emergency had not been brought up
to full strength and apart from other shortages had only seven infantry battalions.
The divisional commander, Major General Abdul Hamid, had decided to fight in
front of the BRB canal and to carry the battle into the enemy territory as soon as
opportunity arose.

The Pakistani position became weaker on 5 September when 21 Infantry Brigade,
commanded by Brig. Sahib Dad Khan, 13 Baluch and 5 FF, was moved out of the
area. This left only five infantry battalions, with the division to defend a front of
approximately 28 miles.

News came into Division Headquarters at about 345 hours on 6 September that
Indian movement had been observed in front of the ranger post at Bedian. By
0500hours, it was clear that the Ranger posts all along the border were under
enemy attack. Soon the Indians decided to forego the element of surprise, which
had already been lost, and opened up with mortars and artillery. The enemy had
planned a two pronged attack, one aimed against Bedian Head Works and the
other directly leading to Kasur along the road Patti-Khem-Karan-Kasur.

The two main enemy attacks were directed against Bedian, by 5 Guards battalion,
and Kasur along Khem Karan axis by 9 J and K battalion. By 0900 hours both the
attacks had come to standstill. Both attacks had been of a battalion strength each
and supported by armour.

Defending Bedian facing the enemy attack was a company of 1 East Bengal Regiment.
They withstood the assault most admirably. The Indians received the proper reception.
The senior Tigers, as the battalion was called, held their fire as seasoned troops are
expected to do. They had a plucky young gunner Captain as F.O.O., who had his O.P.
on top of a tree. He gave them an excellent supporting fire even though wounded
during the early hours of the morning.

1 East Bengal Regiment faced another battalion attack at 1000 hours in front of
Bedian. This also was repulsed with heavy losses to the enemy........

Today Lahore stands uninvaded and ever more well protected because of
the selfless and countless sacrifices made by the Bangladeshis who believed
strongly in Muslim emancipation through a Prosperous United and Equitable
Pakistan.

Unfortunately, we all know how the sacrifice was repaid by our Pak brothers
six years later through the ruthless killing of a million of their brothers..........

May Allah give all of us the strength to learn from History for a more peaceful
and prosperous world.

Where is the analysis????

Airforce has 46 aircraft on order... would like more information.

BN I do not believe would want to operate subs from three different suppliers. Logistically it would not make sense. I think there maybe possibility that Russian subs will be considered but ultimately it will be Chinese. BD philosophy is china first and if they can not provide then look elsewhere for major weapons purchase.

Is this your own opinion or are you posting it from somewhere?

the question is if india attacks pakistan will they be able to... ofc yes even in case of bd... but what they meant is that sustaining against us will be hard because of our style of fighting

it's posted from somewhere else...
tbh... with bd opting for diversity in their weapons choices... i wouldn't be surprised...
