What's new

New Iranian MASAF rifle

What differences? The lower and upper receiver is identical. You can put any type of furniture or accessories on any AR/M-4 but it's still the same firearm.

This is all that matters:

I did not know you had X ray vision and could see everything inside and determine it's identical You can use your eyes and see the differences which are visually apparent never mind what differences may be internally. No one said the rifle is unique, but to claim it's "just an M-4" due to some similarities is foolish.

Stop being so aggressive to anyone who has other opinion/question. Next time and infraction will be issued.

According to designer, they had HK416 in mind when producing this, which itself is again based on AR platform. So @ptldM3 is right.

Who's being aggressive? And infractions for what? did I break any forum rules?
He said "it's nothing but an M-4". Either these people have no English skills or they're just clueless. No one here is saying it's not based on the AR platform, but it is not identical to call it a pure M-4. Similar and identical are not the same thing.

I find it funny that you are calling me clueless and other things without knowing anything about me. I have shot thousands of rounds through various firearms. I own many firearms and I upgraded many. I have limited experience with M-4's but I have handled them, took them apart ect.

There are hundreds of manufacturers that make AR-15/M-4 parts. I can easily built a semi custom AR by ordering an upper and lower receiver with complet trigger assembly, charging handle, firing pin, ect included or I can order all the internals myself, same with the furniture such as buttstock, pistol grips, ect.

Here is a Russian made M-4/AR

Based on the pictures, the upper and lower are just like any other AR/M-4, look at the charging handle and ejection port, it should tell you that the internals are almost identical or identical to any M-4 derivative.

I keep seeing new rifles, but non of them are mass produced, and in standard service

I don't care how much M-4 you claim to own etc. All you're doing here is mostly speculating. Coming up with gibberish like it must be internally identical to M-4 due to some similarities etc. The guns are indeed similar, but to claim this gun is "nothing but a M-4" is something only clueless people would claim so don't moan when I say you fit that category. It seems your eye sight is on holiday at the moment. I repeat this simple fact once again. Similar and identical are not synonymous.

We are going to mass produce it ...
There are many types of rifles in Iranian military forces don't you agree Soheil?

Adding another rifle to the zoo of rifles in military service is let's say not wise enough!

Dump the AKs and G3s and make this the standard service rifle.

G3 is heavy to carry and use I know its recoil and other stuff but don't we have a large number of them in storage? in short distances is so accurate and deadly ...

we producing G3 for almost 40 years , we have thousand of G3 .... we should start a project for modification and optimizing current G3 ... at least we can lighten it weight with new lighter material ( like Aluminum or composite cascade and handle and etc ... )

arming 600,000 army with 2000 - 3000 $ new rifle is costly ...

No way it would cost that much. An American M-4 carbine costs $700. With lower cost of labour in Iran, Iran could make a MASAF with some basic optics (not iron sight) and maybe a grip for that same cost. But since Iran has mostly a conscript army they could even do without the optics. Optics and other attachments could go to professional units.

Artesh needs sweeping modernisation in all areas, it cannot get away from that.

no , our industries problem is that we with cheaper resources and cheaper energy and cheaper worker always produce thing with higher prices ...

there are some reasons :
1- corruption
2- monopoly
3- bad project management
4-

Indeed, the Artesh is old and it is very concerning how effectively they can fight a ground war without experience alot of casualties.

after it passed all quality tests and was unveiled and was tested by several unites successfully, just after that, someone may decide to fund the production line, to which scale? god knows.
