In exclusive deal, India to get ‘Most Advanced’ F-16 fighter jets by 2019-20

Our top power holders, our armed forces and our young generation , these stake holders together need to make a decision for India in Defence , and there are 2 options

1.Build India's capability on the lines that sanctions , economic and military don't affect us. We don't need external help in dealing with our enemies and get a name for India.

OR

2. Get India to be a " Ally " to another power ....

Wait doesn't the second option is wrong ? Aren't we too big to be one ?

Anyway , once the decision is made , things will speed up!

Something is most definitely happening outside of Rafale. With the comment of another fighter under the MII from MoD in the TATA-Boeing Apache fuselage plant recently. They're trying to get a private sector production going. Eyes are on TATA.

It will be a twin engine, and the contenders right now are quite silent !

What if they want to make an F-16 block 70/72 with AESA, IRST and American EW/ECM for around 50 to 70 million $ to compete against the Russian Mig-35 and SU-35 and the Chinese J-10.. they certainly have their eyes on cheap labour ...

Block 32 or Block 70, it depends if US adopts a Russian attitude with India or not ! [You see Russians aren't much interested in our internal affairs , neither do they expect us to be partner in wars, they just expect us to be neutral , and let their systems be used as we like. We will not see US aircrafts with a third party sub systems , can we? ]

labour costs are not that relevant when it comes to high value products costing millions

Why? What happened to the Rafale?
36 off the shelves Rafales are coming anyway....Its about fighter to be made in India and India to chose a fighter among Rafale, F-18SH,F-16 and Gripen.

morning couldnot have been more better with this good news. i think Guj/Maha/K'tka/AP/Telangana can be states where LM can setup manf. base.

Also, I don't know why India is going for F-16s, seems like a poor choice. They'd be adding a new system, one that is a fairly old design, and just adding to their over all operational costs. I don't know, it seems like this was more of a political decision, rather than one based upon Indian defense needs.

Not to mention that people are starting to stir away from the F-16, because a F-16 successors already exists...they're called the Rafale and Typhoon.

Its always a political decision in the end. But i'll wait until more confirmation. Because the Indians want F414 lic production in India. Does this new F16 line offer a new F414 engine with it or F110 flavour?
FYI F-16 is still better than Mig21s that are still flying around.

What you mean , the wages in the US and in India are the same? how it is not relevant? than according to you the US might as well continue manufacturing the F-16 at home.. So to the contrary it is much relevant in cutting costs.. in the millions per plane!!!

No truth in the report. It looks like it is twisting MoUs to some sort of finalization. If you remember I said we signed something with Saab also. I'm just speculating here, but it must be initial agreements to look into their offers. So agreements to get details, NDAs etc.

It's going to cause HAL folks a lot of heartburn knowing TATA quickly got the deal to integrate C295s, and now possibly a fighter jet... In a matter of couple of years... Ouch..
Heartburn ?HAL dsnt care, they know their jobs are secure.if they are really worried we would not have seen them work things the way they do.

Looks like a plan to get India involved in F-35 in later stages ( not that I complain). Block-70 is same as F-16V ?
