Speaking While Female, with Sheryl Sandberg

A needle prick can latter on cause a cancer as well.

unless that needle had a polonium tip - kgb style - i don't see how needles can cause cancers. :D

Forget about the boards just come down the line and imagine a meeting of managers e.g. and make it more specific to our sub continent societies, do you think women would be heard in those meetings with their peers the same way their male counterparts?

you are correct of course but even a male would generally go unheard in those meetings if he didn't have the necessary "qualifications" for authority in the typical western-style corporations - as many college degrees as possible, seniority in age, talent for capitalist corporate buzz words ( eg. "multiple skill sets", "rationalization", "competitive advantage", "center of excellence" ).

rather than sheryl sandberg complaining about discrimination, she should have spoken in favor of movements like "occupy wall street" because these movements will help bring real equality to work places.

I have not seen Western capitalism forcing botox or cosmetics on females. I see what your POV is but let me ask you what makes females to go for all this shit?

most females do botox or use gym equipment because they are under pressure of their peers who in turn are brainwashed by the "health and wellness industry" and the film/tv industry... and these brainwashed females in turn brainwash the weaker-minded males on how the female must look like or dress like or talk like.

I think its the men who have all these fantasies of demanding perfect figure, looks and physique, its the men like you (assuming you are male :)) and me who want to see perfect models, actresses and wives.

i don't know what is "perfect female figure" but i know what is the ideal female figure... like of huma qureshi, sonakshi, nigella lawson from her earlier days on tv, estella warren in film "driven" and so on... below is huma...

And unless you have any other alternate for all these business I would say they are providing jobs to people in way or other and feeding their families. Not every household has major Oil Revenues Bro

at the risk of sounding repetitive, i write of libyan jamahiriya...

1. free housing for everyone, to be lived rent-free.
2. free electricity and water.
3. free medical system.
4. free education system, the courses being of one's choice.
5. subsidized car purchase.
6. welfare of 1000 dollars for the unemployed.
7. initial business loan ( seed fund ) of 20,000 dollars for those wanting to start a business.
8. welfare for first time farmers... free land, equipment, seed.
...

see how much money a libyan person did not have to spend to live comfortably... they did not have to join some atrocious or unjust job just to survive the month ( like what happens in india ).

there are only a few companies in the western world that produce useful products or services... like siemens, spacex, abb, qnx, philips, cisco, kellogs, cadbry, mercedes, pfizer etc... you can know which ones... the rest exist only because of the capitalist environment.

Either she’s barely heard or she’s judged as too aggressive.
Judgmental attitude is a sad reality!
But female employees who spoke up with equally valuable ideas did not improve their managers’ perception of their performance. Also, the more the men spoke up, the more helpful their managers believed them to be.
Yea blind trust in men's ability is really weird!
adopting practices that focus less on the speaker and more on the idea.
I would like to see some implemented no point brainstorming when a million guys will stand up to nick pick flaws in it!
When President Obama held his last news conference of 2014, he called on eight reporters — all women. It made headlines worldwide. Had a politician given only men a chance to ask questions, it would not have been news; it would have been a regular day.
Well, sadly the bimbo issue is also something which causes people's mouths to be dropped open!

What do you want me to say? Well it maybe true in say politics, businesses and stuff like that where people care more about how gorgeous a woman looks over what she has to say while in academics it is less so....but it still is present believe male dominance is not a new thing! However feminism is BS...there should be a middle balanced way!

Nah I am no supporter of feminism and frankly writing I never got to understand what that is all about. I am supporting the fact that we tend to ignore women colleagues when they can contribute creativity, it is somehow implied that women cannot come up with better ideas (except for blondes :D).

For example in Muslim society we tend to forget the role of Harat Khadeeja RA. The way she calmed Prophet (PBUH) upon receiving his first revelation from ALLAH. It was her counseling and talk that helped the Prophet (PBUH).

I have by the way once interviewed interns and my bosses instructions were selection criteria is the most good looking ones get the opportunity only

You don't take it seriously?:what: I have to attend a daily safety meeting in my office before start of work and things that are discussed sometimes make you think twice about your meals, and diet and what not

If I do not hold the necessary qualification and experience and I am not the right person to contribute in discussion, the wise thing would be to become a good listener in that situation. But when I have the authority and experience in any field I would fully contribute and perhaps the idea here is my female colleague won't be afforded the same courtesy.

Bro Libya could afford all this (major revenues come from oil), how can India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh etc. can implement your model of jamahir?
