PESHAWAR: Latif Mehsud, a close aide of former Pakistani Taliban chief Hakeemullah Mehsud, has been handed over to Pakistani authorities along with his two guards and a broker, sources said on Saturday night.

High placed official sources told Dawn.com that Latif Mehsud, the then number-two of Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) chief Hakimullah Mehsud, was arrested along with his guards and a tribesman, Shah Jehan on Pak-Afghan border by the Afghan National Army.

Latif was crossing the border allegedly to buy weapons at the time of the arrest. The militants were then snatched by the Nato troops from the Afghan National Army.

The former TTP commander was under the Afghan and Nato troops custody for some time and reportedly was handed over to Pakistani authorities after the recent visit of Afghan President Ashraf Ghani to Pakistan.

The Pakistani authorities had been demanding the return of the arrested TTP commanders. The other two militants handed over to Pakistan have been identified as Jafar and Aziz.

this scumbag was snatched by the American forces from Karzai's northern Alliance secret agency ( I didn't call it Afghan intelligence because it is pretty much made up of punjserhis and Uzbek child molesters).

since the demise of that leech for a president Karzai , we have got good news for a chance from Afghanistan. Karzai together with his brother and his extended family either sucked the Afghan relief funds for himself or bad mouthed Pakistan and facilitated BLA and TTP leadership in Kunar and Nooristan.

this is a turning point for good Pak Afghan relations specially at military level. if both forces can continue to return such favors (we taking out Haqqanis) and they returning our wanted terrorists then it will be game over for those who want to use Afghanistan as a proxy and try to use the East Pakistan formula again. the Afghan President has sent enough messages to those that he wont allow what Karzai allowed during his presidency

True. Those "cultural centers" should stick to what they are meant for. Giving lectures on yoga and astronomy and how great a certain country was thousands of years ago and how that country was able to do plastic surgery thousands of year ago.

He is probably of limited utility at this point in terms of targeting additional TTP leadership. In any case, Mullah FM is an outsider to the "Mehsud circles" that Baitullah and Hakimullah belonged to, not to mention the fact that he and some of the other top TTP leadership wanted by Pakistan is still in Afghanistan.

He might still be able to provide details about how the communications and logistics of various TTP cells in Pakistan's cities function, which in turn might indirectly help track more of them down.

after the Kashmiri attack on Indian forces, some Indians were warning us about a befitting response from Afghanistan side (referring to their assets) but this news has beaten that prediction.

I knew we are in the state of war and future terrorist attacks can be ruled out but lets thank God for some good news which will go a long way in defanging the operators of these terrorists.
