According to Chinese Media , China has agreed to supply Pakistan with export version of China’s MBT-3000 main battle tank dubbed has VT-4 . VT4 has been developed by China’s North Industries Corporation (Norinco) for Export Market . Norinco in past also developed MBT-2000 battle tanks which was later exported to Pakistan and locally manufactured and was branded has Pakistan’s Indigenous developed Al-Khalid tank .

Pakistan operates around 300 Al-Khalid tanks has its main battle tank of Pakistani army and has been keen to develop a follow on Main battle tank dubbed has Al-Khalid-2 . Chinese media has also confirmed that Pakistan will be allowed to locally manufacture the tank which will clear path for another Self claimed Indigenous developed Al-Khalid-2 tank .

MBT-3000 made its international debut in June 2012 at the Eurosatory defence exhibition in Paris. According to Defence Expert Vinayak shetty , VT-4/MBT-3000 has improvement in Mobility due to 1,300 hp (969 kW) powered engine which offers more power then Al-Kahlid’s 1,200 hp (890 kW) powered engine , Norinco also reveled that VT-4 has composite armour over the frontal arc and explosive reactive armour (ERA) can be added to side skirts .

VT-4/MBT-3000 has same 125 mm smooth bore gun but can now carry thirty eight rounds of main ammunition over 24-round ready-to-fire magazine which was found in Al-Khalid tank . MBT 3000 also has a remotely operated 12.7 mm (0.50 in) anti-aircraft machine gun and a 7.62 mm (0.300 in) coaxial machine gun and all digital fire control system with next generation thermal imaging sight.

India on other hand has been locally Manufacturing Russian made T-90 Main Battle tanks which by 2020 will replace older T-72 tanks numbering around 2000 in Indian Army inventory . Indian Army also has been testing Ingeniously developed Arjun MK-2 Main battle tanks for some time now but has been non committal on further orders . Recent development might not be Alarming situation for India’s National Security but at-least it should wake up Indian Army from slumber sleep for its love for Russian battle tanks over home grown battle tanks .

MBT 3000 will be named as Al haider tank .. AK 2 will be different
 
can you provide me the details of the updation of AK2 compared with AK1?
Al-Khalid II – Upgraded variant incorporating redesigned turret, increased weight, upgraded modular armour package and sensors, improved ammunition and a new powerpack developing 1,500 hp.[6] It has new armour that has been tested to defeat all known 120 mm and 125 mm rounds. The tank has a new Integrated Battle Management System (IBMS) and an active threat-protection system.
