Anti Hindi storm brewing in Tamilnadu

But lalu prasad yadav and mulaayam singh logic which is acceptable for many Hindi chauvinists will replace any point put forward by non-Hindi speakers. as earlier told, they keep vomiting the same "kyonki hindi humari rashtrbhasha he". We have seen enough. Even Modi mahodaya is on the Hindi supporters list. afterall, Hindi imposition is vastly supported by Sanghparivar.

I am all for learning Hindi without imposition. in fact, Kerala people are not averse to learning languages be it Hindi or Tamil or Kannada or even Arabic as most of us naturally picks it up fast. but, Imposition for unity is a wrong idea. for Hindi speakers India is India - that is Patna, Meerut, Moradabad, Shahjahanpur, Delhi, Agra - their world view and about India finishes there.
for non-Hindi speaking people, it is India which is a union of different races, cultures, languages. -- Unity in Diversity.

Learn to respect and accept it.

That one religion was common thread throughout India from ancient times. That has been the only thing holding us together, not the Hindi language. Hindi language is barely 200-300 years old. Why it will be allotted a spot above other languages which are thousands of years old and connected to the identity of vast majority of Indians beats me. Hindu and Hindi are not synonymous. There are Hindus of all languages.
May hindi is barely 200 years old..but its the only present Indian language that is spoken or at least could understood by vast majority of Indians(thnx to films and serials)...Tamil is older than Hindi, perhaps older than Sanskrit..but how many could understand that language??..
Tamil is even unintelligible to vast majority of other south Indian groups, specially for Kannadigas and telegus..
Are you opposing Hindi just because of its Islamic Persian and Arabic influence??...Arabic and Persian loan words are there in all Indian languages, including dravida groups..
After all, language is just for communication..,at present hindi is the only one that is acceptable to majority of Indians..

IF Tamil Nadu is doing well without three language formula, whats the ned for wasting our time with hindi.

Outside India hndi is useful/official in Pakistan and Fiji.
while tamil is offciial/useful in Singapore and SL.

Compare the significance of Pakistan and Fiji together, with Singapore.

Hindi is best restricted to cow belt,

India is beautiful due todiversity, no need for one common indian language.

Since net migration is from north to south, it makes more sense to teach southern languages in UP Bihar etc, rather than wasting tamil's time with hindi

Instead of imposing Hindi its much better to impose Sanskrit.

Once you know sanskrit you will understand a host of Indian languages including some tamil and Hindi.

Patronage for Hindi Growing in Jaffna -The New Indian Express

COLOMBO: A passion for Hindi film music and the Hindi language is commonplace in Sri Lanka. But Jaffna, the stronghold of Tamil nationalism, has been an exception to this rule. The Tamil-speaking North is one place in the island nation, where Hindi films are not shown, Hindi soaps are not watched, and Hindi songs are not aired.

But these may well be things of the past, soon. Thanks to the sustained efforts of the Indian Consulate, interest in Hindi is sprouting among Jaffna Tamils.

Over 20 Tamils have so far completed the beginners’ course conducted by the Consulate with a spouse of a staffer functioning as a teacher. On September 14, the Consulate celebrated “Hindi Diwas” with students reciting Hindi poems and singing Hindi songs before an appreciative audience of 80 people.

“It is my love for Hindi songs which drew me to this class. If I know the meaning of the lyrics, I can enjoy the songs even more,” student T Srikanthan told Express.

“There are now people who think it will be useful to know Hindi if they go to north India for studies or pilgrimage,” said Acting Consul General S D Moorthy, who hails from Manaparai. The Hindi Diwas has evoked curiosity among the public and more may join the course, Moorthy said.

Tamils should learn Sinhala - India
Important points from Mr S.D. Moorthy's (Acting Consul General of India) speech.15/09/14

This is what he said ........ Don't find anything wrong in what he says except there is no Indian mother tongue .

Tamils should learn Sinhalese – India

The acting Indian high Commissioner in Jaffna S D Moorthi says that the Tamils in Jaffna should learn Sinhalese.

Expressing his ideas at a ceremony participated by Tamil nationals, he said that the Tamils should learn the mother tongue of the country in order to grow the relationship.

He pointed out that 50% of the people living in India knows the Indian mother tongue “Hindi” and Sri Lankan Tamils also should learn Sinhalese.

He further said that if Jaffna people are interested in learning Sinhalese, India can support it.

Your love of everything alien knows no bounds. India is not an Arab land nor a Persian land. Language is not just for communication. It is a vehicle of culture. It is what molds destiny.

but you can only groove like this to Tamil songs

Aw! isnt he such a darling baby! i guess you must be spending your day googling " tamil and sinhala " in internet to use in your trolling skills.
See both of us are full of life ppl who appreciate others in secret. So why this hatred?

This is a bad thing.
The conflict in SL has its origin in langauge. Tamils in SL feared a numerically superior Sinhala will one day dominate whole of SL and cause tamils to lose their language and culture, and identity as a tamil. That was the mentality of tamils then and still today. Imagine yourself as a tamil.

So in such a scenario asking them to learn sinhala is a stupid thing that can cause more issues. What we need at the moment is guarantee them that tamil language, culture will be protected in Sri lanka as an equal to sinhalese. And making sure that Tamil identity can be preserved in an umbrella sri lankan identity. That should be the first priority in any reconciliation task.

@Gibbs,
your question that if majority is like 70% and whether they can have their own language as national language, i think no they still cant. If the 30% of the others have historical claim, we cannot.

yes..but you have no problems with china made mobile phones or eating Persian khababs..
There is nothing wrong in accepting the good aspects even if its from an alien culture....Accept the good ones, leave the bad ones..Communal blinds like you would view each and every thing in religious angle...its not my problem...

Culture is not something stoic.. It evolves and absorbs.. What is considered alien once will be local in time.. You cant pick and choose what culture is.. That is whats unique about it

Indian culture today is Hindu, Mughal, Islam, Colonial and many others.. Anybody who thinks other wise is living in denial

No I do not have China made phones nor do I eat Persian Kababs. You may replace your parents also with Persian and Chinese people, I do not do that. I am sure there are good things which are alien, but I have better stuff at my home itself. I do not lack self-respect like you.

Agree culture is not stoic and it evolves and absorbs. Fear is if one is not careful it would devolve and absorb. You need to see what culture you are absorbing no? Do I want Saudi culture in my country? Do I want Tanzanian culture absorbed? What about drug culture? Booze culture? Culture of Taliban? What about ISIS culture? There are cultures which uplift and there are cultures which drag you down.

Indian culture is not of Mughal, Islam, and Colonial try as you may. I do not know people who have harems full of thousands of concubines to be called Mughals, nor that kind of decadence. Neither is anyone building any architecture today which is like the Mughal architecture. Nor forbidding their daughters and sisters from marrying unlike the Mughals. Likewise with colonial culture.

I do not like to quote Gandhi often considering he is not my hero, but still sometimes the man got it right. Here is what he had to say about Western culture: Gandhi was asked by a British journalist what he thought of Western civilization. “I think it would be a good idea,” he replied.

Hindi is also useful in UAE (Dubai), Nepal, South Africa, Mauritius etc. Infact in Dubai, It is next to official language even locals are able to talk and understand easily other being Arabic itself

In Dubai Malayalam and Tamil is also the street language.
