Expansion essential to make UN security council credible: India

You can't coerce China accept India into the P5 membership. France, British, US can't force China hand on any issue in the UN.

There is nothing forcing here....

Give me a reason why China should refuse India.

China should support India, as India supported China in early 50's for China to be in UNSC

The Syria veto being the most obvious example of this.

The entire world was threatening us not to veto the Syria resolution, but we vetoed it anyway.

India is going up the ladder?

With your falling GDP growth and falling Rupee, you've actually fallen down the GDP table from 2011 to 2012. And India is cutting their defence spending too.

Falling rupee is a short term....

Indian economy is going to become 2nd largest economy by nominal and largest by PPP by 2050. And according to SIPRI, Indian defence budget will be $100 billion by 2020.

That prediction was made before India's growth rate fell to 3-4%.

They just assumed India would increase their growth rate to 10%, but it never happened. Instead, India's growth rate fell down to below Pakistan's.

Pakistan surpasses India's growth rate

The UNSC has operated perfectly well for 68 years without India.

UNSC can DEFINITELY do without India. By the constant barking by irrelevant Indian leaders about UNSC reform, it seems India CANNOT do without the UNSC.

India just has a large population but no power and influence even in its own region. China has more influence in South Asia than India does.

India didn't do jack in WW2. India has a tiny economy. India has no domestic military-industrial complex. Basically India has no economic power, no military power and thus no political power.

India always choose neutral positions in major geopolitical issues which means it cannot do anything that hurts the feeling of the west. Therefore India brings absolutely nothing to the UNSC.

India needs an independent foreign policy first before anyone takes India as a serious global power. The only time India becomes relevant is when a major power like the US wants to use India as a mere pawn to counterbalance another major power like China.

India is never the major power itself, it's always just a pawn being used as a chess piece by another major power.

This is why no one takes India seriously and even the western media never criticise India, it's because India is not a major power that can keep the west in check. So the west basically ignores India.

India is a good poodle to use for the west. That's all India will ever be despite the boasting Indians do.

Indians are neutral to Americans.. friends with Russia and wants to be friend with China too.

China don't support India to join the P5 club can be many reasons, China can be fearful of India use your veto power to vote against China interest in case any conflict arrive, India can use your P5 membership to coerce other nations to hedge against China and play a large role with US, France, British to totally contain China on multiple front that ranging from China losing influence on other nation to India. With India veto power, India can side with Japan, Vietnam, Phillippine if there a conflict between China and those nations. These just some of the example i can think off that China don't want India to join the club.

Without India, UNSC has no legitimacy, you cannot keep 20% of the world's population outside UNSC and claim UNSC to represent the world.

Any future expansion will include India. I say India will be there before 2025. With Russia, France and Britain supporting India directly and with US too giving assurance, China will be forced to say 'yes' or risk direct enmity with India.

The nation of India would disagree that UNSC has no legitimacy. If so, India would have quit UN because its not part of UNSC permanent member. But we all know that if India throw a temper tantrum for not being part of UNSC permanent member, than India would be allow to leave UNSC. And any UNSC decision will still be binding against India.

Trust me, India is not ready for permanent member and UNSC will do just fine without India. India just need to wait patiently. If one day that UNSC cannot survive without the participation of India, then India will be asked to join. Before then, India need to be patient.

Finally, we don't know when this day will come. Maybe 20 years, 50 years or never.

Indians do not demand any respect from others, it is chinese culture to demand some thing.

Indians gain respect!!!! END OD STORY.

Chinese as$ was saved by USA, Britain and Russia.
So far, India has not gained enough respect to be in UNSC as a permanent member. India still need to wait until the day arrived. And no one knows when will it be, if ever.

We are not even sure if there will be a country called 'India' 50 years from now.

It could be many smaller countries called Khalistan, Tamil Nadu, etc.

It was Taiwan which deserved to take any credit for being a victor in WW2 and to be in P5 because it was the Kuomintang army which fought alongside USSR, Britain, US and other allies against Japan(and other axis countries) - CCP just took advantage of the situation and defeated the weakened Kuomintang army and again you were richly rewarded for ditching the communist bloc in 1970s.
LOL it was called the "REPUBLIC OF CHINA". Representation of a country joins the UN, not country represents a government. Sorry my friend, India is irrelevant.

Nothing changed...as I said before currency effects were short term...anyway unlike China, India is a domestic economy. Last year India over took Japan as the third largest economy by PPP....,meaning peoples purchasing power are going up, a clear sign of decreasing poverty and growing middle class.

India has strong fundamentals to grow.

1) Large and growing consumer base
2) Huge opportunities for investment across all sectors especially in infrastructure
3) Good saving rates.
4) Strong financial system.
5) Strong private enterprise
6) Stable political system.
7) Relative peace in the country
8) Highly competitive market
9) Good reputation for its mind power across the world.
10) Relatively advanced industrial base.
11) Relatively strong in science and technology base.

A domestic lead growing economy just show that India do not produced anything that anyone else wants. As a result, India growth is stuck in neutral. The domestic lead growth and service lead growth are two of the biggest lies about Indian growth. India need to have a manufacturing and exporting economy first before worrying about a service and domestic economy. All the successful newly developed economies follow this path. There is no other way.

And the reality differ from most of your points.

What is there to quit...UN is a joke...it is just a glorified coffee club. India will gain not much even if it enters UNSC neither are we waiting to be included.

Anyway, when UNSC is going to be expanded, India is going to be the first to enter or risk being not representative of the world's population.

As I said before India can do without UNSC, but can UNSC do without India?

As I said earlier, India not try to get into UNSC if it feel that UNSC is a joke. And UNSC will do just fine without India. Its without India now, isn't it? UNSC is doing fine without japan, Germany, Brazil and especially India.
