Should the Philippines and Indonesia be renamed?

I didn't know it was a multi-option poll and should have said "Yes" to changing both Indonesia and Philippines names so the count as of right now should be 15 for both Indonesia and the Philippines.

Let's also change China's name to Zhōngguó as "China" is derived from the Sanskrit word for that land.

what historical name? INDIA ????

And What India retained was only Hindu names for Cities changing their historical names to show their bias against Muslim

Which Hindu names. :girl_wacko: Bharat in Hindi and India in English and Persian is no more spoken in the subcontinent to retain the name Hindustan. Tell me where do you see bias against Muslims. :girl_wacko:

The names Hind, Hindustan were coined by Persians when they were Zoroastrians. How do you relate India not using these names bias against Muslims. :woot:

I am NOT much keen on changing names of these places as I believe its people of those countries who can decide not us.

On the other hand Spain or Hispania both are ok. Even if you don't change it still garnata has a Muslim writing all over. Ahhh fall of Muslim rule. nostalgic indeed to see Spain.

Anyway I am not much interested even changing historical names of our own Pakistani cities. For example Abbottabad is much ok than changing it to anything else .

Here in Peshawar along with GT a small town or you can say mohalla was Krishan Nagar but unfortunately some dumb residents have put the board Islampura and Krishan Nagar is now written in small bracket on the board.

What about Amarkot where Emperor Akbar was born, Pakistan changed the name of that historical city to Umarkot.

we dont care what the name of 中国 in English. you can name 中国 whatever you like in your language. the most important is that we call our country 中国 Middle Kingdom in our language.

I consider such name changes stupid . The historical names NO matter given by or named after Hindus must remain.

If anyone has a flare for Muslim or any other name they should establish a new city and name it so.

For me Ganga Ram Hospital in Lahore is much appropriate than renaming it

we don't care what you call your country among yourself. you like to be called China in international fora. why don't you change it to the name in your local language?

Madras was a name given by the Britishers because they built the city,Chennai is the name of the chieftain who sold 3 fishing villages to the Brits which make the Harbour area today.

Dint want to drag that on but since you had mentioned the connection between Chennai and the one who sold out local villages to Brits so WHATS the difference and whats the use of changing name ?

Why change Lyallpur to Faisalabad?

Yeh it wasn't needed in my personal opinion.

The oldies still remember Layallpur

what historical name? INDIA ????

The historical name originating during 4th Century BC.

The English term is from Greek Ἰνδία (Indía), via Latin India. Indía in Koine Greek denoted the region beyond the Indos (Ἰνδός) river in Pakistan.

Jinnah wanted Congress to opt for Hindustan(Land of the Hindus) as official name and wanted Congress to disown India for his two nation theory.
