Here's a unique contribution from my lens. A blast from a "Red" Past. The Russian made BMP-1, at an undisclosed armored corp unit, Punjab.

Thanks, Shiji.

As far as the BMP-1 is concerned, it's no doubt one of the best IFV platforms from the 80/90's. Compared to the M113, it's definitely superior in terms of its armaments and transport capability. Pakistan still has to induct a dedicated IFV. The most commonly used APC in our inventory is the American M113 and its Pakistani upgrade, equipped with the ATGM, Baktar-Shikan. However, the ATGM equipped M113 cannot carry any troops.

The 73-MM smoothbore short-recoil semi-automatic main gun and various upgrades to equip the BMP-1 with an ATGM, were far more advanced than anything we had to offer at that time. But it did came with a massive draw back. The back door of the BMP-1 to carry 8 battle-ready troops, were in reality, its fuel tanks with a max capacity of 462 liters. Which means, it was prone to disaster from the rear if hit with an AP, AT rocket.

One more advantage this revolutionary design carried, was its ability to tackle any water based obstacles in its route such as rivers and lakes. BMP-1 was truly a legendary vehicle which shaped the future with its radical design, which combined an APC with a Light tank.

It's not a tank. It's an IFV (Infantry Fighting Vehicle).

Definitely. Our new APC's "Talha" and "Saad" are a progressive step forward. Once we've completed the Induction of these modern APC's, I believe our next step would be to produce a dedicated IFV.

Nice!!!! good work man... can you also tell me weather this IFV was captured by Black Storks? or the afgan mujaheddin?

I'm not too sure about that, Growler. I'll post the exact information soon, if I can. But I do like the idea about "Black Storks" bringing home an IFV as a trophy. ;)

Lol nic pic of this ugly beast GOD bless Pakistan!!

Al-Hamza is the IFV, and i heard it is pretty good.

Yes, I forgot to mention Al-Hamza. Al-Talha (Upgraded M113) will have a number of different variants. Some of them are already inducted in the Pakistan Army. Here's a list of Al-Talha variants:

Al-Talha - Armoured personnel carrier variant, 5 road wheels
Al-Hadeed - Recovery vehicle
Al-Hamza - Armoured infantry fighting vehicle
Al-Maaz - Variant fitted with a launch platform for the Baktar Shikan anti-tank missile
Al-Qaswa - Logistics vehicle
Sakb - Logistics support and command vehicle.
Saad - Six roadwheel personnel carrier version.
