Iranian UAVs | News and Discussions

Seriously, most are just a rocket with two wings, is there a reason for this? There is not even a adjustable camera position or anything else special.

And is there any footage of these flying longer than 2 minutes?

these belong to 5-6 years ago , iran has better things now , that's mean self sufficiency

2 month ago , Can you remember ? when an Iranian-made UAV flew 40 kms into the occupied lands? actually it flew about 300 kms from the Lebanon to the israel , the drone was manufactured at least 10 years ago by Iran and don't forget, Iran doesn't give its latest technology to others.

Besides have you ever watch this clip, it took American 2 and half minutes to detect an Iranian drone which was spying on an American aircraft carrier and finally it fled successfully ... the footage was being shown live at the same time in Tehran (about six years ago)

By the end what are you trying to say? our drones are sucks? ok you've made your point ,thank you ........you are one the most knowledgeable people that I've seen in my entire life you've got an edge over your peers ...

Self sufficiency? Can you tell me which parts Iran makes himself? I think most parts of it are just imported from China since the specs are not impressing to be honest.

it doesn't matter what the specs are , the named cruise missile strikes fear into the heart of GCC people like the nazi V1 cruise missile , oh and the patriot can't do anything against it since it looks to me like a low flying , sea skimming missile

Iran is independent in designing and producing UAVs and the latest achievements such as Shahed , Karrar , Ayub and Sofreh mahi proves that Iran is one of the fewest powers in this field .

I'll try to post about latest achievements in next posts .

Karrar

Karrar ( Persian: کرار‎ karrār, "striker", nickname of Ali, first Imam of Shi'a, ) is an unmanned combat air vehicle produced for the military of Iran. According to reports, the UCAV can bomb targets at high speed. It is the first long range unmanned aerial drone manufactured in Iran .

Karrar UCAV is a jet powered attack drone, the first real example of its kind of it developed by Iran. While It was first unveiled during Government Week 2010 in a ceremony attended by President Ahmadinejad, it had been in development since 2003, with a scale model displayed in 2004. It is possibly connected with the Ababil Jet project. It is not however, readily connected to any South African designs as some allege. The two drones bear a skin-deep superficial resemblance, however at 2nd glance the resemblance disappears when the key differences in engine position and wing configuration become apparent.

Design :

The Karrar features an aerodynamic cigarette shaped fuselage with small , swept wings mounted low on the fuselage . At the rear , mounted high on the fuselage is the horizontal tailplane with wingtip fences on either side . Control surfaces are found on the main wing and the horizontal tailplane .

It is powered by a variant of the Toloue turbojet engine. Whether it is the Toloue-4 which powers the Noor cruise missile, with 3.7 kn of thrust, or the throttleable Toloue-5 with 4.4 kn of thrust, is unclear, though it would make much more sense for it to be the latter.

The Karrar is launched via RATO in the same manner as Iran's other UAVs. Recovery is a combination air-bag / parachute system.

Due to its long range and lack of optical sensors, some kind of INS/GPS-guided autopilot is a necessity, which the Karrar is reported to have. The system in question is unnamed (unlike the package on the Ababil for instance) but is full-spectrum in the sense that it controls the Karrar all the way from launch all the way through attacking the target and returning for recovery. It's also reported that the Karrar had terrain
following capability, which lends at least some credence to the 'stealth' claims; even if the aircraft itself isn't explicitly stealthy .

Iranian state TV said the Karrar has a range of 1000 kilometres and could carry two 115 kilograms bombs, or a precision-guided munition of 227 kilograms . The Karrar can also carry four Kowsar light anti-ship missiles or one Nasr-1 anti-ship missile. The Karrar unmanned combat air vehicle is 4 metres long and has a turbojet engine which can reach the speed of 900 kilometres per hour . The Karrar uses a rocket assist system to assist in take off and is recovered by parachute .

Sofreh Mahi UAV :

Manufacturer : Islamic Republic of Iran

Role : Stealth Unmanned combat aerial vehicle

Status : Under Development

Sofreh Mâhi ( Persian: سفره ماهی‎, "Eagle ray" ) is an Iranian stealth UCAV under development . Little is known about the drone but scaled down mock-ups shown during Iranian Army Day 2010 parade show that it has a flat diamond shape body with twin vertical stabilizers. First reference to the drone was given by Lieutenant Commander of the Iranian Air Force General Aziz Nasirzadeh who reported that the first tests of the drone were finished .

Development :

Iran officially stated that it is working on a stealth UCAV named Sofreh Mahi on 7 Feb. 2010 . Iranian officials reported that the drone has a shape similar to the Eagle ray resulting in the drone being called the Sofreh Mahi ( the Persian for "Eagle Ray" ). The drone is also made out of special materials that absorb radar energy. These two features give it the ability to evade enemy radars.

General Aziz Nasirzadeh, Lieutenant Commander of the Iranian Army Air Force, stated that the UAV 'Sofreh Mahi' has been designed and manufactured for reconnaissance and bombing missions, considering its radar-evading capability .

General Nasirzadeh also announced that once the aircraft passes further tests, and its features and capabilities are completed, the Defense Ministry will begin the production. "Production of the actual size as well as mounting and testing weapons and a number of systems on the aircraft are the next phases before we can start its mass production", Nasirzadeh said.

In February 13-2011 Iran announced that it is going to build and test a real scale model of the plane, however this is a long process and can take a long time to finish. Nasirzadeh said that "It is just one of Iran's UAV projects and one of our goals is to produce such planes. Because the world is moving towards that direction."

what you mean by saying that you think ? do you have any proof or evidence to shore up and support your false claims or as it appears you are just blabbering? prove it sir ...

Calm down bro ,You can find such people everywhere . Iran's recent achievements in designing and manufacturing UAVs clearly prove that Iran is one of the 5 or 6 countries have something to say in this field .
