SHANGHAI (AP) — Another 100,000 people may have to move away from China's Three Gorges Dam due to the risk of disastrous landslides and bank collapses around the reservoir of the world's biggest hydroelectric facility, state media said Wednesday.

The Ministry of Land Resources says the number of landslides and other disasters has increased 70 percent since the water level in the $23 billion showcase project rose to its maximum in 2010.

FYI, the dam was completed in 2008 and it's already breaking apart.

I agree that dams don't collapse so easily. there are centuries old dams standing tall, this is just decade old. I think the journalists was clueless what he was talking about.

Too bad a 3 megatons nuke does not produce more impact than some medium magnitude 7.0 earthquake.

Thread title and annotation to the "news" is intentionally rephrased and misleading.

News claims "dangers from the three gorges dam" and is about threats from caused or potentially connected "landslides" and others similar environmental and geological incidents around the created lake, to explain a few minor and potential relocations. Its not about the dam itself but natural incidents caused by the dam.

Not a single word about the dam "breaking" or "collapsing" contained anywhere in the article, not even just fearmongering about "potential risks". Everything else added in here about "breaking" is fabricated and twisted fake propaganda and lies.

No technical problems with this masterpiece of architecture and technology.
