India-Japan ties worrying China?

Chola incident

The 1967 Sino-Indian skirmish also known as the Chola incident, was a day-long military conflict between Indian troops and members of the Chinese People's Liberation Army in Sikkim, who had infiltrated the area. The end of the battle saw the retreat of the People's Liberation Army from Sikkim.

Casualties and losses

China 12 killedm 9 wounded
India 4 killed

Result PLA invasion repelled by Indian military.

Sikkim later went on to become a part of India. :)

1987 Sino-Indian skirmish

At the end of 1986, India granted statehood to Arunachal Pradesh, which is an area claimed by China but administered by India. The Chinese government proceeded to protest. But the military movements in Tawang, taken in conjunction with this political action were seen as a provocation by the Chinese. In early 1987 Beijing's tone became similar to that of 1962, and with the Indian Army refusing to stand down, Western diplomats predicted war.

The Indian response to the Chinese buildup was Operation Falcon and involved movements across the Sino-Indian border. Among the more interesting deployments, using Mi-26 heavy lift helicopters, was that of Infantry Combat Vehicles (ICVs)and some armour in North Sikkim in the east and Demchok in the west. These two were viewed as particularly threatening by the PLA because they seemed to indicate that India had moved from a strategy of defence in its own territory to that of a larger offensive involving all of Arunachal Pradesh.

Result - China thumped chest, just like it always does (remember Taiwan?) and did nothing.

Arunachal Pradesh today too is an integral part of India while their is widespread discontent in Tibet. The Tibetan people have resorted to self-immolation to protest the occupation by han Chinese who are giving them "patriotism" lessons.

In 1962, China and India had similar sized economies. Today, China's economy is FOUR times larger than India's economy, with commensurate military spending.

China's power relative to India's has increased enormously since 1962, in fact China is now the strongest it has ever been relative to India. And the Indian Armed forces know this already. :azn:

'India cannot match China's military force': Indian Naval Chief - IBNLive

New Delhi: Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Sureesh Mehta has set off a storm by saying India cannot match China military force. Is it a warning from India's military that the government needs to hear?

"In military terms, both conventional and non-conventional, we neither have the capability nor the intention to match China force for force," said Admiral Sureesh Mehta.

For a nuclear-armed military representing the interests of a billion-plus people, the lack of confidence is quite striking. India's military leadership has made a stunning confession that New Delhi doesn't have the stomach for a fight, if push came to shove on the disputed Sino-Indian boundary.

"Whether in terms of GDP, defence spend or any other parameter, the gap between the two is too wide to bridge and is getting wider by the day," he said.

Please pay special attention to the last paragraph. :D The gap is getting wider every day.

But all this is off topic since the article alleges that Chinese are worried over India Japan ties. Why? Let me help.

One thing the Chinese hate to the core is their memories of the Japanese invasion. The cost for the Chinese was

1,320,000 KIA, 1,797,000 WIA, 120,000 MIA, and 17,000,000–22,000,000 civilians dead

Japanese losses 480,00 dead, 520,000 wounded, and 430,000 sick;

This is why the Chinese can't stand Japan teaming up with India.

The ratio of deaths of Chinese : Japanese is like 1:3.

LOL, yet India was still humiliated easily by China in 1962?

China fought off the colonialists, and despite much hardship, eventually we ended up on the winning side of WW2.

India on the other hand, never fought off the colonialists, who enslaved them for 200 years.

In fact... India itself is nothing more than a creation of the British colonialists.

Ok dude, lets face it!

I get it that its a Pakistani Defence forum but there is no fun in comparison of India and Pak military today. Open a nuclear thread on the two of these and I'll come to reply. Other than that please update yourself by referring to more threads on this India Defense Section.

With both countries having nukes.. it doesn't matter who fears who.. but reality sinks in if war happens.. both countries erased off map.. same applies for china india.

Well, Indian freedom struggle is a celebrated phenomenon in world history. The methods of non-violence given by Mahatma Gandhi, which were later adopted by Dr. King in the US to fight for African-American Civil rights! :)

The Chinese on the other hand became a communist country but their practices are plain old capitalist since 70s. What are the morals/ethics of China? Oh well, let me answer - NONE! You adopted a violent strategy and to be honest your performance was abysmal. :)

Remember, before the British came, the subcontinent was comprised of many independent Kingdoms.

It was the British colonialists who united and created the entity known as "India". Which was later split in half when the Muslims demanded their own homeland, something which will be repeated in the future when the Muslim population in India increases.

But this creation of the British colonialists has failed quite badly, in fact it has more poverty and starvation than even Sub-Saharan Africa. It would be better off in it's natural state - as many independent kingdoms.

they have one. Whatever CCP says is true and even if false u must beleive it.

All the sources I use in my arguments here, are International sources, like the BBC and the Economist.

Do you think they are Chinese propaganda?
