ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Imran Khan will launch a pilot project of ‘Apna Ghar’ scheme on Wednesday, taking a step to realise its commitment for providing 5 million homes at affordable prices to citizen in five years.

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), in its election manifesto, had pledged to provides houses to homeless people across the country if it voted to power. Now, it is going to launch the pilot projects of the scheme in all the four provinces and Gilgit-Baltistan in the first phase.

Media reports say the federal government in consultation with the provincial government will select a district in all the provinces where the project will be executed.

With the launch of the project, the registration process with the help of National Registration and Database Authority (NDRA) will also be started from today. The registration forms will be provided by NADRA at minimal price.

In order to handle the project, a special authority will be established after legislation. The project will be executed through public-private partnership.

Last month, the prime minister chaired a meeting of the Task Force on Housing which was attended by Housing Minister for Punjab Mian Mehmood-ur-Rasheed, Mr. Najeeb Haroon, MNA, Lt. Gen Moazzam Ajaz, Quarter-Master General (QMG), Maj General Naveed Safdar, Director General Army Lands, Dr. Imran Zeb Khan, Secretary Housing, Mr. Arshad Dad, Mr. Yaqoob Tahir Izhar, Mr. Ali Zafar, Mr. Zaigham Mahmood Rizvi, Mr. Saleem Ranjha of Akhuwwat Foundation and others.

The Task Force apprised the Prime Minister about the progress made so far in formulating a comprehensive plan for planning, execution and monitoring of the ‘05 million Housing Project’ for the low-income groups as well as regularization of Katchi Abadis.

The prime minister was informed that a comprehensive housing policy framework with a holistic approach and multifaceted initiatives was being developed to create a conducive environment and offering the one-window solution to the local as well as foreign investors. It was informed that an apex body would be created for the purpose to ensure seamless execution of the project.

PM Khan has already decided to take ownership of this demand-driven initiative that would not only fulfil PTI’s promise of provision of 05 million houses to the homeless but would also create huge economic activities and job opportunities for the youth.

Lt. Gen Moazzam Ajaz, Quarter-Master General, made a detailed presentation on the army’s experience in catering to the housing needs of its personnel. He also offered Army’s expertise and assistance in implementing the 05 million housing project.

The Prime Minister said that besides utilizing the expertise of both the public and the private sector, successful financial models including that of Akhuwwat would be replicated to ensure success and affordability.

The prime minister directed the Task Force to expedite finalization of the plan including the legislative framework for its consideration by the provincial and the federal government.

This is the thing which i wanted to see IK do. Help the poor government employees who live on rent get a home for their families. Thats why i trust Imran Khan and voted for him.

We got to help the poor help themselves by giving them jobs and allowing them to contribute to society. We must fairly circulate money and control inflation which mitigates the effect of increased money flow. Let's get the Chinese planners in and see how they did.

Our Lower class has vanished, people cant even eat one time meal which is sad. The middle class has become the new poor class in Pakistan. If Asad Umar goes to IMF then Allah Hafiz to good economic dreams. But I like your thinking about the Chinese model which should be applied inside Pakistan, it is the only model that will help Pakistani lower and middle class stand up again.

Hahahaha same thing of past,to get votes launch dispensable projects, which would provide a source of corruption and making voters happy, regardless of economic sitution of state.

Bro the project is started, conceived and initiated by IK, read it again its Prime minister Imran Khan, not Gillani or Raja Rental or Bald brothers.

G..d dhone ke paise nahiin hukoomat ke paas aur ye bc 50,00,000 ghar banaega.

"The project will be executed through public-private partnership" Kash aap ne parhnay ki zehmat ki hoti tu baat dhonay dhulanay tak na jati.

Imran Khan is honest man, if he can’t give anything to Pakistan, he will not take anything. He is simple man even he denied his legal property of Gold smith , jemima.
This country was crying due to land grabbers , nobody was taking action, atleast government is doing something against big fishes.

PMLun's saaf paani, daanish school & aashyaani housing societies were said to be the same "pooblic private partnership". It's all an excuse to save face.

Imran Khan could bring Mana from the sky and feed every single Pakistani and yet patwaris will still have chilies up their @ss and criticize it.

Public private partnership is the way to go, thousands of jobs will be created, private sector can make money, and poor will get homes.

The only problem for patwaris is that they will no longer get kickbacks and corruption money. so to them, this project is FAIIIIIIIILLLL

And the problem is that u cant convince them even with facts and details so its better to say Thankyou to them and move on.

The problem isn't that they need convincing. They know the truth. But like a cancer their survival depends on the body being sick.

The problem is that they are trying to convince the rest of the body that cancer is good and medicine is bad.

I am simply exposing these cancers so that they can't spread.
