The Zimbabwean government has acquired the services of Pakistan Armed Forces for setting up its first National Defence College (NDC) at its capital Harare said e report published in The News.
The government has allowed Air Commodore Tanveer Siddiquee and Brigadier Muhammad Viqar to leave for that country for undertaking the prestigious assignment. Pakistan has the distinction of setting up Zimbabwean Air Force, previously called as Rhodesian Air Force way back in early 80s .
A former senior commander of PAF Air Marshal Azim Daudpota is viewed as father of the Zimbabwean Air Force who served as its founding chief from July 1983 to January 1986. On returning home he was appointed managing director of the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) and brought about remarkable improvement in the airlines at that point in time.
Well placed defence sources told The News here Saturday that Air Commodore Tanvir Siddiquee is currently heading the intelligence wing of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) while Brigadier Viqar is attached with the National Defence University (NDU) Islamabad. Both the officers will be assuming the new duties on January 1, next and they have been given three years agreement for the purpose. The two officers are known for their professional skill and dedication to the job as they had served to important postings.
Air Commodore Muhammad Aasim has been appointed the air intelligence chief of the PAF vice Air Commodore Siddiquee.
