What's new

Xian blogger claims he has seen the H-8 STEALTH BOMBER in test flights

For obvious reasons the actual bomber looks slightly different because the pictures may have been camouflaged to hide the details of true design of the Chinese plane. This is standard operating procedure for new secret weapons and strategic bomber planes. A similar tactic was adopted by the American DoD before the Stealth B-2 bomber was introduced to the public.

According to reports, the H-8 uses a high-tech blended wing-body design, has fly-by-wire controls, and has an angled fuselage. The wing has massive internal fuel tanks. The aircraft uses carbon fiber and other composite materials and the weapons bay has a rotating weapons profile. The bomber retains a terrain hugging capacity and has a terrain following and mapping radar, satellite data links and advanced digital mapping systems. The bomber also uses advanced stealth technologies including nanometer coating amongst other technologies.

The H-8 will have 4 turbo-fan engines, the core of which is based on the WS-10A. Weapons will include 12 “red birds” or 3 cruise missiles distribute in two weapons bays. Each of the cruise missiles may use a nuclear warhead and can fire from a distance of 3,000 kilometers. It can also use a host of other weapons including laser guided “thunder stone” 6, satellite guidance bomb and anti-ship missile, amongst others.

The H-8 bomber is a Stealth, strategic, and heavy bomber all rolled into one. It carries a crew of two and could fly as fast as Mach 1.4, has a range of 11,000 kilometers (without refueling), and can carry over 18 tonnes of bomb load. It can carry twelve Stealth cruise missiles (each with a range of 3,000 km) on each of the two weapons bays. It could carry an additional three nuclear missiles (350-kilotons each).

Just a rhetorical question..
If he has only seen it.. and at night..
how the heck does he know the payload, range armament etc?

For many years people could not ascertain the true nature of the F-117 after observing it at night.

And a blogger is not supposed to know anything about the aircraft in this detail, unless there is a leak in inside information.

Hopefully there is no leak. These are strategic weapons we are talking about here.

That's what m trying to point out, all the characteristics pointed can't be figured out by only looking at the aircrafts.
Or the blogger is trying some publicity stunts and whatever he stated is sheer speculations. :undecided:

Speculation is what keeps us Chinese fan boys alive. Most new Chinese weapons systems are planned, tested, inducted, and build in quantity before we know anything.

let me try to clarify, though I believe SinoSoldier would be better than me to answer your rhetorical question.

the source from where SinoSoldier posted the article doesn't appear to be the original one where the Xian resident posted his comments. secondly, H-8 is an old story, reports about it surfaced as early as in the 1997 if you see my posts and features of it were leaked soon after the leakage, though many of them might be authentic or speculative. since such an offensive weapon is sensitive and unveiling such weapon definitely brings diplomatic backlash from unfriendly countries, the govt must have tried to suppress information or manipulated it in a way so that it may sound like a rumor. though China is now a days following much transparency which at least one decade ago seemed impossible.

it should be noted that US itself while developing its B-2 maintained utmost secrecy or even manipulated the reports which sounded like a rumor until the B-2 was publicly unveiled as the chances of a direct military confrontation with the Soviet declined. military and diplomacy go hand in hand.

the unusual unveiling of J-20 test flight seemed to me a kind of shrewd diplomacy since Gates was visiting, 'cause as far as I know, PLA's policy is such, people get to know about any new weapon much after its induction, let alone testing.

congratulation to china if this is true..

Now USA and china are the competitor

russia left behind

These are some photos from a different website. These are not the ones taken by the blogger.
These might be photoshop, I cannot tell.

He got the info from a different article that described the H-8

Is there any chance that H-8 would be unveiled in January 11 of the next year?

Anyone here wanna make a bet for that? :agree:

I would rather take chances with the SAC stealth fighers and the XAC JH-7B variant
