From architecture-balar:

Inaugurated the world's largest sea bridge in China Thursday (30.06) which were used at least 450 000 tonnes of steel, 2.3 million cubic meters of concrete and took more than a million billion Euro's!

Undeniably, this is a masterpiece of work: The bridge has a length of 43 kilometers is the largest of its kind and based on 5000 columns.
This bridge connects two focal points of China's port city Qingdao, which lies east of the country, with the island Huangdao, and the airport Qingdao-Liuting.
In fact, the somewhat unusual this route (which eliminates the distances between areas of China), it is quite literally just over the water, because the distance between bridge-sea water is much smaller than that of other bridges.
To accomplish This spectacular construction took almost four years, while "hosts" about 30,000 cars every day

Jiaozhou Bay Bridge - The World's Longest Cross-Sea Bridge
The Jiaozhou bay bridge, China that covers a distance of 26.3 miles (41.58 approx) has been recorded as the world's longest cross-sea bridge. The bridge was inaugurated on Thursday along with the longest undersea tunnel of the nation which is about 9.47-km tunnel that provides a fast link between Qingdao to Huangdao.

The main purpose for establishing the bridge was to innovate this coastal city into an international shipping center for Northeast Asia.

This eight-lane Jiaozhou Bridge connects the urban districts - Qingdao and Huangdao. About $2.3 billion has been spent on construction and the work was started in the year 2007 May. Although, it took about 17 years to complete with all the planning, design, research and directions for the project the Jiaozhou bridge was completed in 4 years. During its construction the bridge achieved national prizes and also won several world records.

The Jiaozhou bridge broke the world record of Hangzhou Bay Cross-sea bridge, which was 36-km-long and connects the cities - Jiaxing and Ningbo in East China.

"All the precautionary methods like techniques to sustain the high salt content and winter ice in the sea of Jiaozhou Bay were taken utmost care during its construction" said Zhou Fengjun, an academician with the Chinese Academy of Engineering.

The Jiaozhou bay bridge will shorten the distance between the districts - Qingdao and Huangdao, with a approximate distance of 30 km. The bridge will also shorten the travel-time from 40 minutes to 20 minutes.

From Chinadigitaltimes:

With an overall length of 42.58km, the route between Qingdao and Huangdao will be shortened by 30km, cutting the travel time by about 20 minutes.

However, the colossal construction is set to hold the record as the longest sea bridge only for a few years – and it will be bettered by another Chinese bridge in the next decade.

Last December officials announced workers had begun constructing a bridge to link southern Guangdong province with Hong Kong and Macau.

Set to be completed in 2016, officials say the £6.5billion bridge will span nearly 50km (30 miles).
