Won't allow Muslims at Garba, says right-wing group in Gujarat

A right-wing group today said it had issued a "diktat" barring entry of Muslims at Garba events during the upcoming Navratri festival at Mandvi town in Gujarat's Kutch district to prevent "love jihad" incidents.

"We have issued a diktat barring the entry of Muslims at Garba events in Mandvi," said president of Hindu Yuva Sangthan, Raghuvirsinh Jadeja, who is also chief of Vishwa Hindu Parishad of the Mandvi tehsil unit.

"Incidents of love jihad where Muslim boys lure and marry our Hindu girls happen at Garba. Our only aim is to protect our girls," Jadeja told PTI.

"We are getting a good response from the people and if the people from other regions respond to this movement, then we will spread it to their regions as well," he said.

The organisation will ensure that any person entering the Garba pandal has a tilak on his forehead, and 'Gaumutra' (cow-urine) will be sprayed on him, he said.

"If a person does not apply tilak and hesitates to be sprayed with Gaumutra, he will not be allowed to go inside.

"My people would do patrolling outside and inside Garba events and if they find any non-Hindus, they would exclude them," he said. When asked how will they identify non-Hindus, he said, "We can identify such elements."

Not a single day passes without fanatic hindus doing terrible stuff in India.

What is going on really?

Lynching, burning alive, cutting people, destroying churches or mosques, threats to kill minorities, banning their food, asking to convert...

And it has increased many folds since the election of extremist Modi.

India is becoming a terrible place to live for her minority population!

Garba is a dance festival in celebration of Maa Durga. Is it not Haram for Muslims to sing and dance for a Pagan Goddess? Also if Yoga is Haram, is not dancing and singing Haram too? Or is being Haram selectively acceptable?

For those Muslims who still want to participate in Garba what stops them from organizing their own Garba festival in their communities and Masjid compounds?

Garbas mostly are strictly performed within cooperative society compounds with entry allowed only for the members of the society. Why gatecrash? It is only some public organizations which organize ticketed events.

Garba is a Gujarati folk dance celebrated in Navratri, a celebration lasting nine nights. Garba songs typically revolve around the subjects of Lord Krishna or the nine goddesses.

Day of Navratri and devotees offer the flower garland to the idol or image of the goddess Durga. Here also Dandiya and Garba dances are predominant

I do not know what's the situation in India but here is US there is lot of demand. A lot of white people join the song and dance. It is awesome and very tiring too. Only few people have stamina to dance for extended time. There are gharba dance classes that are conducted by local dance academies and white students some times out number the desis.:D

VHP 'bans' non-Hindus from attending garba events

With the nine-day Navratri festival round the corner, the VHP has issued a diktat not to allow non-Hindus, including Muslims and Christians, at garba events in residential societies across Gujarat.
The right-wing Hindu organisation said its volunteers will keep a close watch at the garba venues across the state to see whether non-Hindus were trying to enter the venues.
Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) further said that those Muslims, who still want to enjoy garba, will be given an option to "embrace Hinduism" at the venue.

Gujarat VHP's general secretary Ranchhod Bharwad told reporters here today that the ban on non-Hindus is applicable at small garba events organised in residential societies only and not at the clubs and other commercial events.

He said the ban is necessary "to stop incidents of 'love jihad', where Muslim boys lure and marry Hindu girls."

"We warn all the non-Hindus, be it Muslims or Christians, to refrain from entering the garba venues across the state. Such Hindu festivals are used as a tool by Muslim boys to lure our girls. Such a ban is necessary to stop love jihad incidents," he added.

"Apart from love jihad, it has to be kept in mind that Navratri is a sacred religious festival of Hindus. Thus, it is not proper to encourage others to be part of it. Apart from taking measures from our side, we will also convince societies to implement this ban at their level," said Bharwad.

Those Muslims, who still want to enjoy garba, will be given an option to convert to Hinduism at the venue, he said.

"Those Muslims, who want to enjoy garba can only do so after converting to Hinduism. VHP will make all the arrangements at the venue if he wishes to do so. But, we are sure that no one will show the courage and eventually drop his plan," said Bharawad.

When asked about the relevance of such diktats when Prime Minister Narendra Modi pitches for "inclusive growth" and "sab ka saath sab ka vikas (development of all with all)", Bharwad claimed that Navratri is not a government function.

"Navratri is not a government function or a constitutional set up. This is purely a Hindu festival. Thus, idea of inclusive growth does not apply here. This is a religious festival of Hindus and we have to protest to keep the sanctity of this festival," Bharwad said.
