That's odd, lots of people saying Norton.
I've had Norton for a while, I'd rate it as a pretty poor anti-virus.

I'll go for either Kasperky or AVG.

Norton is good but takes a lot of RAM, makes everything slow.
Kashpersky is good among paid ones and Avast is good among free.

Well the best anti virus defense on a Windows PC would be this book

Windows internals, 5th Edition ... 6th edition coming soon

and the ability to use Hijack this software

I know you need advanced knowledge to be able to do this (but this advanced knowledge can be achieved with a little hard work)

ESET Smart Security 5 is the best AFAIK
