Pakistan's gotten a host of new Cobras to fight the WOT, but we hear that Pakistan needs new helicopters to keep fighting, as if the old ones are not working any more.

The WOT is only about 10 years old why can't Pakistan keep the ones it has flying? If parts are an issue why is Pakistan persuing more Cobras if in the next ten years it'll be back to square one?

There are a lot of poor countries I've heard of that're still flying old relics in their army and airforce what's the difference here?

the AH-1 Cobra which Pakistan operates is old platform and has one engine compared to the SuperCobra with 2 engines. The AH-1Z Viper is even more powerful and sophisticated so I can see why Pakistan would want a dozen or so of them.

it's all about getting the best.

There is nothing wrong with Cobras. AH-I H \S are vintage Cobras no longer in active US inventory. US marines prefer Cobras over Apaches, whereas US Army uses Apaches. Zulus are twin-engined and can carry a huge payload, many variety of munitions (i.e., Hellfire, rockets, AIM-9s). They are optimized for hot/humid, hot/dry, all-weather strike/escort missions. They have more range, loiter time, better sensors, communications and aiming options. Super Cobras are rugged, low-maintenance machines with unbelievable turn-around time superb for expeditionary missions, much like ones being conducted by Pakistan Army. These are front-line US machines. Next may I suggest Pakistan make a play for Chinooks with bigger engines!!

I think US should give away all of the available Cobras they have which are serving the US NON-MIlitary services. Also, US should give many of them as spares by converting them in to spares supplying through shipments of containers.

Also, PAA should seek Jordanian-Bahraini-Turkish-Philipines-Spainish machines to increase their fleet and also for spares too. I am sure US will back them to buy from them for Cheap. Muslim countries are always willing to give PAA equipment on very reasonable cost.
