What's new

What would have happened if Abhinandan Varthaman was flying a Rafale, ex-IAF chief asks

It's not tha plane that matters but the pilot who flies it.

if Abhinandan Varthaman was flying a Rafale.....
Pakistan would have awarded him

jhootoon ka harr bhi pehnate thaparoon k elawa

Then should have awaited the arrival of Rafale and Abhinandan could fly it but then again; fate would have been same or in-fact, we would have offered him biryani as well.
.....or perhaps we would have scheduled his meeting with his maker.

What these indiots don't understand that the whole Operation swift was about the Power projection and a well planned trap for IAF, PAF went in to bomb Indian targets , spare them to avoid escalation , but they know IAF will peruse them and try to shoot them down, so they set up a trap and Abhinandon falls for it, even if he was flying Rafale the results would be same, cause PAF was scanning skies, ready from multiple direction, the most different what could've happened that Abhinandon actually might be able to shoot down a PAF fighter, but again not certain ..

A shameful leader to his air force after all that happened this guy still lives in a Bollywood movie tale. Your new fighter would come down in flames and become even a bigger shame to your pathetic nation which has coward armed forces you are shame to your self and to your country !!!!!!!

Well, they still had mini Awacs on their side with the best Russian BVRs. Now its a proven fact that its more about tactics, teamwork and your confidence.
Agreed. But don't take away the fact the our guys knew they were fighting with longer sticks while the enemy wasn't. That sort of knowledge makes your mindset positive. It would be interesting to see what happens when Indians have their Rafale, Su30, M2k combo going with the sneaky bisons lurking around. It's all about timing. Who creates a vacuum and who fills it.

How is Rafale all of a sudden better than Su30MKIs? For years all I read from Indian members on this forum and others was how both the EF and Rafale were inferior to MKI. What's changed?

Actually wasnt even the Bison superior to anything PAF has? Werent the Phalcons capable of jamming every aircraft in PAF or indeed the entire air defence systems of Pakistan?

So whats changed? What will Rafale add? Or is it now simply the new Indian mythical system that is better than anything in the universe?

These Indians are masters of BS. I have been a member for decades of various Pak defence forums. I have heard it all throughout the years. Let me assure you that Indians used to claim how superior and super deadly the MKI was supposed to be. They have been singing this song for decades.

LOL all it took in the end is the 27th to remind India how shit and vulnerable they are with their mighty MKI. No one in Hindustan is willing to even mention the MKI anymore. Suddenly the superior Su-30 MKI has become the backup fighter LOL

Now Rafale is going to save India.

A better question for the Indians should be, why wasnt Abhinandan flying Su-30, Mirage 2000, or Mig-29? The IAF already has hundreds of more capable fighters than the Mig-21 ... so I feel their line of thinking as highly suspect. Even if they had all of their 32 Rafales, Abhi still would have come in a Mig-21, and the results would have been the same.

Some More BS coming out of BS Dhanoa.

Chandigarh:
In a veiled dig at previous governments and their handling of defence procurement, former Indian Air Force (IAF) chief Air Marshal B.S. Dhanoa Saturday, speaking on Balakot air strikes, raised a question — “What would have happened if Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman would have been flying a Rafale instead of a MiG-21 Bison?

“The biggest lesson that has come out in a limited area, limited period engagement is that technology matters. This would be addressed to some extent with the induction of the (Russian) S-400 and Rafale (fighter jets). But what about the responsibility of the people who were supposed to get this technology but kept negotiating for 10 years to get the advanced multi-role jets?” he asked.

Dhanoa said “these people” are equally responsible for not imposing significant cost to Pakistan after the Balakot strikes, in an apparent swipe at civil servants, the previous governments and the defence procurement handled by them.

The former IAF chief was speaking at a session on ‘Understanding the Message of Balakot’ at the third edition of the Military Literature Festival organised by the Punjab government.

He had overseen the Balakot strikes in February during which terrorist launch pads in Pakistan were attacked. Varthaman was captured on 27 February by Pakistan following a dogfight between the two countries’ air forces in which his MIG-21 was shot down.

“Since the PAF had targeted military installations on February 27, Pakistani army has now become a legitimate target,” Dhanoa said, adding that had they been successful, the Indian military was prepared for an attack on Pakistan’s forward brigades.

BC chai ki ziada qeemat chuka kar zaleel hota!

i don't get it. First the claim to have shot down F-16 WITH MIG-21. and now this crap. If we think logically if Mig-21 has done such a feat then why would they need Rafeal in the first place. Now why raise the question of Rafeal? Why go to the discussion of if and then?
I think their retired Air Chief is telling everyone the truth about their failure on 27 Feb which they previously never accepted.
Rafeal is one of the best fighter in the world and very few countries uses them. But Sukhoi 30 is not bad either. But when it comes to Indian everything devalues. If they had Rafeal Pakistan response would have been different with same strategy to give India a bloody nose. Rafeal could have been short and Wing Comd. Abbinandon would have enjoyed Pakistani tea. And Indians would have been saying only if we had UFO the result would have been different.

It is not just about the Jets or AWACS; IAF was out-ranged by AIM-120C-5. Rafale is coming with its very own BVR Missile which out-ranges AIM-120C-5. Better to prepare for the future than gloat on 1 Jet shot down as everyone knows a prolonged engagement could have had a different outcome.
