The PN needs to focus on electronic warfare and Jammers to protect its ships against enemy attack. Sightings of Indian Submarines near Pakistan's coast was hopefully a wake-up call for the PN.

The Indonesians are buy a Turkish torpedo defense for its submarines and surface ships. If the Turks have some of these systems operational, I hope the PN tries to ask the Turks to borrow them for the duration of this crisis. Should they be used and are effective they can provide valuable data to the Turks, and if their presence gives the Indians pause, they will be more helpful then we can know.

We are not through this crisis; which will probably last another 2-3 months. The PN needs to stay vigilant.

(BTW: with the Malaysian Prime Minister coming in the next couple of weeks, the Pakistani Military should ask how to counter weapons both Malaysia and India share in common, sort of how Britian asked the US how to counter Argentian equipment during the Falklands war)

Procuring different types of defenses can create a "layered defense" such that if the enemy can defeat one decoy type another 1-2 other types may fool the enemy torpedo.

BTW; this is the threat; the F-21 Torpedo the Indian Submarines have. An Advanced system that needs to be countered. If the Turks could loan this defenses, the PN can at least adequately defense itself.

Turkiye purchased British SeaSentor torpedo defense system for first Milgem variants until Turkish torpedo defense system and decoys are operational. After national system become ready for trials, Turkish engineers found a great chance to compare the capabilities of domestic passive/active acoustic sensors with a system which is developed by a leader in naval sector and It is proved in active trials that Turkish equivalents performed way superior than British system. Cause of using both US and German torpedos in Turkish submarines, Turkish institutes put national system into active trials against both torpedo and An insider info, German DM2A4 torpedos have been totally jammed acoustically thanks to Zoka. At present, All submarines and frigates are being upgraded with national protection systems. Indonesia has also satisfied with performance of those systems and purchased for their submarines built by S.Korea. The capabilities of them are mostly classified but It is underlined that they are better than anything UK provides and effective against DM2A4 and MK48Mod6 torpedos.

To make sure about total destruction of coming torpedo, A hard-kill torpedo system called “Tork” is being tested at present. When Tork’s development is completed, It will be very difficult to pass over such a strong layered torpedo defense system. It is not important the origin of coming torpedo. S.Korea is following the trials of Tork and When It is succesfully completed, Most probably, They will order some as well.

and The last Agosta upgrade deal is to add new capabilities to Pakistani upgraded submarines related with torpedo defense system and sensors. Most probably, STM will integrate Aselsan systems If Pakistan accept.

Tork trials !

Nice post finally something for Navy. Any possibility of our private sector to jump in with Turkish companies to design such systems ourselves?

Thanks. how long do you think integration would take for the Zoka (currently operational) and Tork (once operational)? Pakistan will probably ask for it on its Milgem Corvettes, but is it a plug and play system that can be integrated on to the F-22P frigates within a few weeks or requires extensive integration into the entire combat management system (so it uses sonar data, etc.)?

Integration of Zoka to submarines takes more time than Hizir to frigates. Zoka decoys have unique launchers to drop decoys into the water so integration of launchers into body require expertise and time.

On the other hand, Surface ships have bigger free spaces compared to submarines and Hizir elements can easily be integrated on proper places on open deck for launchers and aft end side under the heli pad for towed arrays with a winch and electronic units on combat management room. The tracking of torpedos in torpedo defense system are done with towed array sonars working as a part of this system.

Array sensors are given to water with a winch system.

Once towed arrays receives the acoustic tracks of a submarine or a torpedo, the electronic units convert collected raw tracks into valuable location datas to inform the ship with an alarm.

The operators on consols activate the pynomatic decoys under the reference of enemy torpedo locations and Rest is done by different type of decoys. Some decoys have own propellant to approach target torpedo while generating jamming acoustic signals, while others just activated close to main ship to establish an acoustic wall providing acoustic protection from torpedo threat. That is How Hizir works...

but in Zoka, torpedo location are found by submarine itself and Zoka works as a part of whole sensors onboard but All of them are working as a part of combat management system.

Thank You, very informative. I hope the PN employs it on its surface ships as it is already doing with its submarines.

We shud be deplying some thing on lines of nulka counter measures

rumors say Pakistan choosed Aselsan ZOKA.

Thanks

BTW;
1. Is this for the Surface ships? and if o, is it just the Milgem or on other surface ship classes of the Pakistan Navy?
2. Does Turkey have an equivalent to the Nulka Countermeasure system?

Best defence is a very strong offense. So i vote for more silent submarines. Atleast 40 in our arsenal. In 2023 we will have only 16.
