Vivek Agnihotri deactivates Twitter account after receiving death threats for his upcoming movie ‘The Kashmir Files’

If you look at the numbers, you will not be so biased.

There were in the region of 150,000 Kashmiri Pandits, in a population of 7 million in the Vale. Intimidating them, and committing murders, assaults and rape was enough to break their morale. It is a pity that the majority did not think about the oppression of a minority in their middle, depending on them for support and safety.

It is very strange to find your references to Hindus as a monolithic bloc, doing this, that and the other. For your information, I doubt that even 1% of even Sanghis know anything about the Jammu massacres. Second, the people of Jammu who bore the brunt of the attacks by Sanghis and refugees from the Punjab riots were not connected to the people of the valley. To conclude that what happened in the valley in 1990 was in some way connected to what crimes were committed in 1947 is using a deliberately broad brush to justify the expulsion of the Pandits.

I have friends among both the KPs and the KMs, and the pain due to what is happening has forced me to isolate myself from both sets of people. Those of us who wish both sections well are completely isolated today. Pakistani extreme statements on these topics do nothing to help.

Again. Nobody is justifying expulsion or massacre of kashmiri pandits here

We are simply calling out the hypocrisy of hindu intelligentsia for misusing and exaggerating Kashmiri pandits killings of 90s to spread their hateful agenda. This includes your PM and your ruling party too

Yes Kashmiri pandit killings have happened and nobody justifies or denies it. However far more killings of majority group have happened and the ruling elite of India uses few hundred deaths of Kashmiri pundits to hide or justify those killings. We are simply questioning this hypocrisy

Even the highest Hindu nationalist estimates claim 400 Pandits were killed. Compare that to the 250,000 killed in Jammu in one month alone, which is the reason for Jammu being Hindu majority.

It's obvious which side started this conflict and continues to make it a problem, and because of them South Asia is the only place where a nuclear war is realistically a threat.
If there are survivors still alive from the 1947 Jammu massacre, they should be interviewed and there stories made into a movie to show what happened then. Especially the role that the RSS played in the massacre, and the parallels to today. The RSS and Indian state laid the ground work in 1947 in Jammu, and now are trying to do the same settler colonialism in Kashmir.

Per Wikipedia:

Massacres

On 14 October, the RSS activists and the Akalisattacked various villages of Jammu district—Amrey, Cheak, Atmapur and Kochpura—and after killing some Muslims, looted their possessions and set their houses on fire.[26] There was mass killing of Muslims in and around Jammu city. The state troops led the attacks. The state officials provided arms and ammunition to the rioters. The administration had demobilised many Muslim soldiers in the state army and had discharged Muslim police officers.[27][a] Most of the Muslims outside the Muslim dominated areas were killed by the communal rioters who moved in vehicles with arms and ammunition, though the city was officially put under curfew.https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/1947_Jammu_massacres#cite_note-31 Many Gujjar men and women who used to supply milk to the city from the surrounding villages were reportedly massacred en route. It is said that the Ramnagar reserve in Jammu was littered with the dead bodies of Gujjar men, women and children. In the Muslim localities of Jammu city, Talab Khatikan and Mohalla Ustad, Muslims were surrounded and were denied water supply and food. The Muslims in Talab Khatikan area had joined to defend themselves with the arms they could gather, who later received support from the Muslim Conference. They were eventually asked to surrender and the administration asked them to go to Pakistan for their safety. These Muslims and others who wanted to go to Sialkot, in thousands, were loaded in numerous trucks and were escorted by the troops in the first week of November. When they reached the outskirts of the city, they were pulled out and killed by armed Sikhs and RSS men, while abducting the women.[2][26][28]

There were also reports of large-scale massacres of Muslims in Udhampur district, particularly in proper Udhampur, Chenani, Ramnagar, Bhaderwah and Reasi areas. Killing of numerous Muslims was reported from Chhamb, Deva Batala, Manawsar and other parts of Akhnoor with many people fleeing to Pakistan or moving to Jammu. In Kathua district and Billawar area, there was extensive killing of Muslims with women being raped and abducted.[2][30]

Nobody is justifying any killings of civilians or anything like that

We are simply questioning the lies and over exaggeration of some particular killings by hindutva for pushing its own hateful agenda
Can't argue with that. It is a fact that there are full-time Sanghi teams promoting these incendiary versions.
Isn't Aarti Tikoo Singh the mouthpiece of Modi government nowadays when it comes to Kashmir? A Kashmiri pandit being a mouthpiece for sanghis. Poetic :)
Yes, she has turned full rights. However, you should know that there are also very many KPs who wish that relations with KMs would be cooled off, without political interference by the Sanghis; these are people who continue to receive warm and pressing invitations to come and settle in Kashmir, from KMs who know them well.

All KPs are not of this type that you have mentioned.

If you put it like that, I have to agree; only it is not Hindu intelligentsia, it is committed and politically motivated Hindu intelligentsia.
The Jammu killings - massacres - of 1947 are very painful to think about, and is a permanent stain on India's record, although these happened before accession to India, while J&K was still a princely state.
The general hostility in Sanghi pockets today is almost as painful. Note that in Hyderabad, that is in Telangana state, and in West Bengal, and Tamil Nadu, and Kerala, to quite some extent in Andhra Pradesh as well, you will not find this poisonous atmosphere, but there are trouble-makers. I can name names, but am reluctant to wash our dirty linen in public.

@Areesh
I would like to say, on record, that all of us who know about it bitterly regret the massacres at Jammu, along with the other deaths during partition, and I, speaking for myself without any claim to represent others, completely reject any links between those incidents and BJP policy in J&K today. I realise your irritation with Indians with Sanghi sympathies or beliefs, and understand that this is uppermost in your mind when reacting to posts by Indians. Your last two posts have made me think; while I wish you would be more detached and less violent in your expressions, I do understand your emotions. Tout comprendre, tout pardonner.
Peace to you.

Per Wikipedia:
Snedden actually did this reconstruction, in an academic context. His narrative is very, very reliable.

You are correct in identifying the main actors. It is ironic that after doing nothing, absolutely nothing besides being sycophants and paid informants of the colonial authorities, these fringe elements took to violence at the worst period of the freedom movement, during partition.

I do not think that a movie would help matters.

Filmmaker Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri has deactivated his Twitter account after he was shadow-banned by Twitter and received death threats and vulgar calls to stop the release of his upcoming movie, ‘The Kashmir Files’. The movie depicts the plight of Kashmiri Pandit refugees following the 1990 Kashmiri Pandit exodus from the valley.

The filmmaker penned an open letter explaining the ordeal he has gone through since he started the campaign #TheKashmirFiles on the microblogging site to promote his upcoming movie. He explained how he and his family are being continuously hounded by what seems to be “Pakistani and Chinese bots” for making an “honest film on the pain and sufferings of our Kashmiri brothers and sisters.”

He wrote, “A lot of people are wondering if my Twitter account is suspended. No, it’s not. I have deactivated it. Here is why: Since I started the campaign of #TheKashmirFiles, Twitter shadowbanned me. My followers dropped drastically and most of my followers couldn’t see any of my tweets. On top of that, my DM was filled with vulgar and threatening messages (by you know who). It’s not that I can’t handle such elements, but it seemed there were many Pakistani & Chinese bots. However tough you may be, it’s mentally testing to be surrounded by such intense hate and threats for your family. For what? Making an honest film on the pain and sufferings of our Kashmiri brothers & sisters? Is that why they are rattled that the truth may come out? The ugly world of social media has given the power to a lot of evil elements. And our silence gives them hope to succeed. TheKashmirFiles breaks that silence. Loud and clear.”

The filmmaker further added, “I have always spoken against India’s enemies. #The KashmirFiles is an attempt to expose inhuman terrorism that has destroyed India’s most sacred land of Shiva & Saraswati. And now religious terrorism is making inroads in mainland India. That’s why they want people to like me silenced. I always speak for those who can’t be heard. I have been exposing many untruths and fake narratives by anti-India Urban Naxals. They want to silence me. But I know very well that silence helps tragic events like Kashmir Genocide. They must know that I can’t be silenced. I thank all my followers and fans for your love and support. Love. Always.”

Twitter suspensions and shadow-banning

Twitter, the social media juggernaut known for its liberal bias, has been often chastised for arbitrarily suspending or shadow-banning accounts of those who don’t share its political ideologies. Last year, on the 15th of December, journalist Aarti Tikoo, a Kashmiri Pandit herself, took to Twitter to raise alarm about Islamic terrorists from Kashmir issuing death threats to her brother. Two days later, on the 17th of December, Twitter India, the social media giant, decided to “lock” Aarti Tikoo’s account. The notice that Aarti got said that she could “unlock” her account if she deleted the tweet about her brother getting threats.

In 2020, Twitter allegedly shadow-banned Kashmir-based Indian Army’s Chinar Corp’s account for unclear reasons. It has been alleged that the shadow-ban was imposed after the account posted details of a rescue operation in Jammu and Kashmir.

Vivek Agnihotri details the plight of Kashmiri Hindus when insurgency began in the valley in his upcoming movie The Kashmir Files

‘The Kashmir Files,’ hailed as one of the most important, current, and untold stories in Indian history was invited by various major institutes and organisations in the United States for over 30 power-packed screenings and garnered a resounding reaction.

In what can only be described as a source of national pride, Vivek Agnihotri’s The Kashmir Files, which is based on the true events of the exodus of Kashmiri Hindus in Jammu and Kashmir, was held high at the Times Square in New York for two continuous days citing the occasion of 73rd Republic Day.

‘The Kashmir Files,’ written and directed by Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri, is based on video interviews with first-generation victims of the Kashmir Genocide of the Kashmiri Pandit Community.

The movie reportedly takes the audiences back to the year 1989 when an unprecedented insurgency began in Kashmir and a vast majority of Hindus were forced to leave the valley. According to the reports, approximately 100,000 of an estimated Kashmiri Pandit population of 140,000 left the valley between February and March 1990. More of them left in the following years so that, by 2011, only around 3,000 families remained in the valley.

‘The Kashmir Files’ stars Mithun Chakraborty, Anupam Kher, Darshan Kumar, Pallavi Joshi, Chinmay Mandlekar, Puneet Issar among the prime cast.

The film ‘The Kashmiri Files’ was scheduled for its theatrically worldwide on 26 January 2022, coinciding with India’s 73rd Republic Day, but was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, especially with the spread of the Omicron variant.

Anupam Kher Recalls Shooting The Kashmir Files: “I Have Cried On Screen In Every Scene”

“I’ve brought out the pain and hardship on screen and look forward to its release on March 11. I wondered how to smile today as I have cried on screen in every scene in the film, and Vivek has hugged me immediately after saying ‘cut’. This is more than a performance, a film. It is a truth that is finally getting told. It is about humanity, goodness and pain, emotions attached to people,” he added.

I thought twitter regional office was in indian hands and not Pakistan.

He is typical RSS mindset. Twist a logic and try selling it to the world.

There is only one problem with his real objectives; 500K soldiers in Kashmir today are not Pakistani or muslims, they are hindus.

I think this Kashmir files movie is about that over exaggerated so called massacre of Kashmiri pandits

Good he deactivated. His film was based on a lie anyways
Just a way of showing the oppressors and criminals as victims. A typically Indian crude and disgusting way of twisting reality,

Please do your numbers again. I have pointed out time and again the closest approximation of numbers of Indian military and, separately, Indian central police, in the Vale.

You know, Hitler saw the crimes of others but never recognised his own crimes.

play the victim, get sympathy points, and sell your lie.

Nice!!!!

It does not take much intimidation to cow down a tiny minority. Only those who watched the situation develop will know how the tension was ratcheted up.
Kashmiri Muslims are a tiny minority in India
The massacres in Jammu are a shameful episode in Indian history, and bringing this up to justify the pressure campaign against the Pandits is a really underhand thing to do.
Likewise, the Pandit incidents are not justification for blaming Kashmiri Muslims for perpetrating this conflict. And no one's trying to justify a wrong with a wrong - we're trying to clarify the common misconception in Indian society that Kashmir's history started in the 90s because of Pakistani sponsored Muslims.

True. What had been done to them, and the savage way in which their liberties have been compromised is a disgrace.

How does this affect our recognising that the Pandits were terrorised?

I was glad to read your first sentence.

That misconception is created; it was done with a purpose. The causes are known to all who are sensitive to human rights anywhere in India, and it is certainly known to those of us who uphold it as best as we can.

You have to understand: it is for us to convince the mistaken elements in Indian society, not for anyone else. If we were to wax eloquent about the affairs and the mistakes in the countries of others, there would be nothing left but the bickering of slum women at a community tap.

If you have any misgivings about my stand on this, feel free to challenge me. I have nothing to hide.

I see h*ndus (including Kashmiri ones) the same way Sultan Abdul Hamid II viewed *rmenians.

I genuinely wish Kashmir was situated on the Ukrainian steppe rather than it's present location, simply so it would be fucking far removed from all the surrounding shitstain neighbours it has (yes, that's including pakistanis who're exploiting the plight of the Kashmiris and the ch*nese who want to annex part of it).
