Vietnamese students surpass Chinese peers to top regional education ranking: World Bank

I don't see a Y-axis on the graph. The values (x-axis) are "a weighted average" of scores from PISA. They are simply average scores, and I don't know if I could come to the conclusion that "China produces few elites" and "Vietnam produces more students that score highest on average" based on the graph.
I have a Vietnamese classmate who is very smart so I understand what you say about Vietnamese students. However, I don't believe that they are superior to Chinese students.
if so why the graph shows the position of the squares in different heights? what is the red curve used for?

the World Bank uses weighted composite metric. It is similar to network routing weighted composite metric.

Look at the topology below: there are two paths to the destination. which path is the best?

Answer: the routing protocols calculates the best path by taking all parameters along the path into the calculation. Plus the parameters are weighted in terms of their individual importance.

Why not ask your supa pawa peers that how come their high intellect only positions them at 30th place in income while lower intellect are number one in income in actual real world jobs that pays, instead of passing fancy tests.

The smartest Indians are working in foreign countries, and the smartest Chinese are working for China. That is why China is 5 times stronger than India. Nothing to be proud of, kid.

I think the number of white, Indian, Vietnamese and blacks living in China are large enough to prepare a similar comparison: list of ethnic group in China by household income. Possibly you will find blacks as the highest-income group, as they are mostly businessmen.

So you mean mediocre Chinese like yourself are not useful for China?

BTW, you implied in your comment that Indian students aren't as smart. Not my fault if you like to change goalpost as per convenience.

you have to thank indian software outsource companies like Tata infosys who abuse US H1B policy to import large amount of indian coders to Silicon Valley. those indian companies took >70% of annual H1B visa numbers and made other companies who really need H1B visa to attract talents feel pain on the ***. This abuse has long been investigated by US congress and Thanks to Trump, this abuse will be hard to repeat again. Those entry level jobs will be given to local US new graduates.

In that salary rank Filipinos also rank very high, but that doesn't mean anything either. USA just needs nurses desperately.

What's this rubbish? So Tata and infosys abuse H1B to bring low costs Indian workers but end them paying up highest? Even more than Americans themselves?

once you get H1b, you get into the door of Silicon valley, starting salary is nothing. you can always jump into other companies. it is so easy to grab a high pay job if u r a coder, even u r very garbage in the capability. Ironically indian software engineers performed badly in almost every major software contest.

Just for your info, Indians get hefty packages in college placements itself. They don't usually prepare or have resources for International competition

These packages translate to more than USD 100K right fresh out of campus. And many IT companies hire even Mechanical engineers for coding and they excel.

Both China and Vietnam (Japan, Korea, China-Taiwan,etc., too) produce generally high-quality high school students compared with SP12 and MAGA.

I guess this has a lot to do with culture and genetics.

Congrats, Vietnam. SP12 may need to be revised further into future now, like, SP11.

Have you ever heard the term bell curve? The author who wrote this article has no basic understanding of the graph itself, but then again this is from Vietnam express and I am not suprised. This tells the quality of education in Vietnam.

From the graph itself, the only information you can tell this the average PISA score of Vietnam is somewhere under 512 which is better than most other Southeast Asian countries beside singapore , but still below East Asian countries Japan 550, South Korea 560, HK 556. You can check it on the PISA Test official site yourself or wiki will do fine.

The red curve is just a normal distribution, also known as probability density function, of all the average scores. The y-axis, if it exists at all, doesn't really matter because the x-axis contains the most relevant data to our discussion--the average score.
I can't put in a link because I am new. Try to look up normal distribution probability and see if that helps you.

I believe the author is an exemplary Vietnamese student :-)

Then again i wonder whether author or some poster here can actually understand any of this.

you mean this one? the normal distribution of Vietnam comparing to the Group of 7 (Albania, Colombia, Indonesia, Jordan, Peru, Thailand and Tunisia).

As i said before Vietnam's Pisa test score is better than a lot of other countries, there is no doubt about that, but the article is using false informtion to misleading readers saying that Vietnam's score is better than those from East Asian countries which is completely a liar. So either the author has an intention of lying here or he is just as ignorant as these readers who actually believe this BS article.

Its was pretty obvious you didn't understand that, but now here you are boldly declaring you don't know nor can grasp what you are looking at. What the f*ck is your point flaunting with some propaganda about Vietnamese being smarter than anything based on reports you don't even understand.

Thats has to be the most offbeat and obtuse way someone could come up with trying to explain such a basic term that literally explains what it is in its own name and sounds more like some missadventure on Google rather than something intentional.

Seriously, are you just jumping to Google and type in "VIETNAM BEST"+ keywords you just heard you dont understand or scavange the sites you already posted fo them and copy any s*it that impresseses you and just hope it passes as some relevant answer every time someone replies to your nonsense or are you just acting obtuse to spam Vietnamese and Western propaganda trying to overhype their latest proxy puppet while pretending to talk with people?

Actually the graph show Vietnamese students having a lower score than China, Japan, SK,SGP, so I'm not sure what this khon Kai is talking about. Maybe he's using Vedic math.

relax you are exploding otherwise. I haven´t written the article. the stat is from the world bank.

is there a difference between weighted average score and absolute score or not?
