THE nation successfully negotiated the return of a 19th century Vietnamese imperial seal from the French auction house Millon, the ministry of culture, sports and tourism said in a post on its website. The government will purchase the seal from Millon, state media reported, without providing the negotiated price.

The seal weighing 11kg, with a large flying dragon sculpture on top, was valued at as much as US$3mil (RM13.6mil), according to a description page of the item which has since been taken down. It was made in 1823 and owned by the Emperor Minh Mang, who ruled Vietnam between 1820 and 1841, according to the statement.

“Returning the gold seal to Vietnam not only supplements the collection of lost artifacts, treasures and cultural heritages that ‘bleed’ overseas, but also reinforces the state’s viewpoint of preserving and promoting the value of cultural heritage,” the statement said. — Bloomberg

When do those savage European robbers will return all the treasures they looted from their former colonies instead of shamelessly sell back to those countries.

That seal shows you how Vietnam copied China’s culture.

Vietnamese culture is really just Chinese culture

Sorry but modern Vietnamese written language has no Asian flavor at all and to be perfectly honest feels very manufactured and unnatural. Like pretending their history only started after French colonization.

Ordinary Chinese can understand the characters on this cultural relic. But can you Vietnamese do it?

difficult. most Viets including myself don´t master chinese language. I can guess, the first characters mean "dai viet" (Viet nam).

Congratulations to the Vietnamese for finding your national treasure. It is hoped that all people can find their ancestors' cultural relics.

These are 12 cultural relics that Chinese people attach great importance to. "圆明园十二兽首"。

It has a special significance for the Chinese people. In 1860, during the Opium War, the British and French allied forces stole them from the Old Summer Palace in China.

For more than a hundred years, the Chinese have been trying to retrieve these cultural relics. Six of them were obtained by Chinese entrepreneurs at home and abroad through auction, and then returned to the Chinese Museum. The French government found the other two and returned them to the Chinese government.

There are still four unaccounted for, which are said to be hidden in Britain and the United States. We hope to find them back.

Jackie Chan once made a film in search of these 12 cultural relics:

Can’t change history. Like a divorced couple. But in fact the last queen of Viet man was educated in France. Her name “nam phuong”, means something like “southern ruler”.

These Chinese letters should be "大南受天永命传国玺".

"大南" means Vietnam.

"受天永命" means that the Son of Heaven (Han Emperor) has granted the right to rule forever.

"传国玺" means the jade seal that the country will inherit forever.

BTW: Correct an error.
The statue on the gold seal is not "龙" (dragon), but "蟒" (python). The difference between "龙" and "蟒" is the number of claws.
"龙" is the symbol of the emperor, while "蟒" is the symbol of the king. The king of Vietnam is not eligible to use "龙".

“Đại Nam thụ thiên vĩnh mệnh truyền quốc tỷ” (Ngọc tỷ truyền quốc của nước Đại Nam nhận mệnh lâu dài từ Trời) - The national seal of Great Viet received a long-term destiny from Heaven.
The animal on the seal is a 5 clawed dragon, the emperor's dragon. Don't listen to those idiots distort.
