US tanks arrive in Germany to help Nato defences

100 apc, i dont think so. 50 perhaps.and all those m-113 cannot be compared in firepower to Bradley.
446 tracked vehicles.PA tops around 300.
Rest of the troops can be attached from Corps HQ if bde is independent.
Almost all Indept Armd Bde have at least one HAT Bn and often a LAT Bn as well.

This brigade that has been sent is not typical its better called an Armoured brigade group.

Those are Corps assets assigned to armd bde when required.

Looking at the ToE, it seems this "Brigade Combat Team" more to be like our Armd Bde Gps, like 8th at Mangla, rather than a standard armored Brigade.

Incidentally don't our Armoured Regiments all now have an ATGM Sqd attached as well?

8 IAB originally has 2 armor regiments and 1 mech infantry battalion.artillery regiment. signal company.
Thats 90 MBT. 50 APC. 18 Arty Guns.

Corps HQ attaches more units to it.
1 Armor Recce regiment from Corps reserve.
1 AD regiment from Corps AD Bde.
1 Engineers company from Corps Engr Bde
1 HAT regiment or maybe 1-2 company's
1 LAT regiment or maybe 1-2 company's
1 more infantry Battalion, mechanised or motorised from Corps Indp Inf Bde or from any Div under Corps HQ.

Now 8 IAB has swelled up and becomes 8 IAB-Group and has all the above units under its command, some of which are part of Corps HQ basically.
Thats 120+ tanks. 100+ APC/tracked ATGM carriers.8-12 ATGM jeeps.18 Arty Guns. 18 SAM systems.

8 IABG had 3 armour regiments and various other units attached to it, during 1971.
Incidentally don't our Armoured Regiments all now have an ATGM Sqd attached as well?
Every Armour regiment had few RR guns which are probably replaced with ATGM now.

How well these tank work against Tsar Bomba

You know , I am no Rocket scientist , I could be one but for sake of argument does it not seem
like a good idea to pressurize Russia so much is wrong ?

Considering all they did was end some crisis in Syria which was sending Refugees to Europe and causing more crisis

Is it really a good idea to surround Russia with Tanks . specially in Germany

At cold war time we had more than 2000 active Leopard 2 tanks. Even that was not enough, we had BO-105 helicopters with french HOT misisiles. Our commanders projected that Warsav Pact states could reach Rhine river within 48 hours.
Now we have only 225 A5 and 200 Leopard 2 A7 are to be delivered.
The US troos are more symbolic than a real force against a possible Russian strike for a land corridor to Königsberg.

Well said. I'm surprised by the low number of active tanks for a strong country like Germany. You have the tech to manufacture the best tanks in the world, you have the trained troops and you have the enough money to handle the costs. What's your problem guys ? :D
