I am not about pakistan, but certainly they support Indian N-arsenal by giving them N-deal. Now india can double its N-arsenal every year. And they fomally accept india not to sign NPT and CTPT. so i think this is very green signal from west to india go ahead and increase N-arsenal.

N-deal has nothing to do with Nuclear weapons. The Nuke weapons developed by India were quite indigeneous with almost no help from anyone

Chomsky is a crazy communist who hates America. His ravings are not based on reality.

The Indian nuclear program was developed due to the Canadian Cirus Research Reactor the Canadians sold to India. The US under Eisenhower provided India with heavy water with the express understanding that its use would only be for peaceful purposes. The Indian scientists decided to produce and enrich the fuel required for the reactor indigenously and that was the beginning of their whole program.

The Pakistanis on the other hand were again helped by the idiot Canuks who set up a reactor in Pakistan -KANUPP. Fortunately it was under IAEA safeguards but the French and the Belgians went ahead and built a huge Plutonium separation plant for the Pakistanis without any safeguards. Not only that they employed the German born AQ Khan who sold the Pakistanis plans, supplier info and specification for Uranium enrichment (gas centrifuges) and the rest is history.

The US never willingly consented nor encouraged the development of nuclear weapons by either Pakistan or India. If anybody is to blame it would be the gullible Canadians and the Europeans who proliferated nuclear technology and know-how! Today the principle force behind the Pakistani nuclear program, Ali Bhutto's son-in-law is the leader of Pakistan strangely.

You do realize that India actually uses Plutonium based weapons rather than enriched uranium ? Also, India's domestic uranium reserves are minimal. That is one of the reasons they tried to test a fusion device during Pokran -2.

Uranium deposits in Meghalaya could be double: AMD


Shillong, Oct 8 (PTI) The actual uranium deposits in Meghalaya could be double than what has been established in exploration done by Atomic Minerals Directorate for Exploration and Research (AMD), a top official said today.

"Out of the 1,800 sq km of extent of the Mahadek basin in Meghalaya, only 28 per cent of the area is exposed and the deposits so far established are concentrated only in this area. Exploration work on the remaining stretch is being done currently with a relatively new technology called Hallibourne Geo-Physical Survey," AMD additional director PS Parihar said.

He said so far it has been established that the 28 per cent of the Mahadek Basin accounts for 16,000 tonnes of uranium, which is 16 per cent of the country's uranium resources.

You all may be surprised to know that US at a point of time was willing to provide India with blueprints of nuclear weapons !!

At present Pakistan is quite capable of running all cycles of the nuclear weapons program independently, that is if we are to believe US intelligence estimates.

The Chinese may have helped in some auxiliary role later but the program itself started off through funding from the Middle East and technology from Pakistani scientists working abroad. The North Koreans helped with the delivery systems right from the beginning.

Today even India or Israel (and Iran in a few years) can run all the cycles of fuel separation, enrichment, warhead construction and delivery system development themselves. Pakistan's ability is just an open secret that US Intelligence put into words.

Actually I think I came across an article by some Think tank that claims Pakistani's availability of weapons grade uranium helps them build more bombs quicker than the Indian ability to construct bombs at Trombay because of the many large new facilities they have added in the last few years.
