FAISALABAD: A US security official’s attempt to enter a ‘sensitive’ area of the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC) in Faisalabad was foiled by security agencies, who forced him to return after a heated scene at the institution’s gate.

Reports claim that on Wednesday, Mr. Jaison Berger, Security Officer of the US Consulate Lahore, visited Faisalabad to check and inspect security arrangements for a US delegation’s scheduled visit to the city on September 13.

While visiting different areas of the city, Berger reached the National Institute for Bio*technology and Genetic Engineering (NIBGE), a centre of nuclear research working under the direct command of the PAEC.

Police staff and officials on duty stopped the US national at the gate after receiving orders from their superiors at a provincial and national level. The officials requested him to steer clear of the area which was not included in the US delegation’s scheduled plan but Berger refused to acquiesce.

After a heated debate between the US official and security agencies including NIBGE commandos, Berger was forced to leave the site. Following the incident, the official abruptly cut short his visit and headed for Lahore.

Following the tense encounter, sensitive agency personnel and Faisalabad police took up the matter seriously and sent SOS reports to officials concerned about Berger’s attempt to force entry.

Time to send hitmen after each and every US government official in Pakistan.

If it was San fran police dept., he 'd be looking at the roof of the church by now. He should consider himself lucky and thankful he got out alive.

Imagine the exact opposite if someone tried to enter their facilities.... Terrurisht, terrurisht, shoot shoot shoot shoot....

americans are the most hated human beings here, but still look at their persistance, such bravery is provided by leniency by the present corrupt government

Do you think before advocating mass murder?

Why is it that ex Pakistanis living in nice comfortable western countries like the UK and Canada are the ones suggesting all out war with every second post is it because they know they wont have to be a part of it?

Well, now Mr. Berger can report how incidents are dealt with, he can report who official)s_ and which units respond, how long it takes them to respond to a SINGLE intruder, and he can also report the approximate number stationed there - all in all, not too bad for a single individual to report

errr... all he found out was how the gate security responded ... which would be pretty routine for most guarded installations ...

Heated Debate??? forced to return??? They should have shot him dead right there. right then.

How is it mass murder? Is it mass murder to attack Gadaffi's officials?

Oh please, do you think if I was in Pakistan that I would be wishing anything less? You can see how people living in Pakistan feel about it to begin with. You seem to be making a diversion if anything

How long have Mr. Berger worked as a security officer in Pakistan? He may not be familiar with security protocols or does not trust the current security force.

^ He did not trust the security force, or was not familiar with security protocols, so he tried to enter a nuclear research facility?

The Govt should have cancelled his visa with immediate effect, put him on plane straight from Faisalabad with the orders "get out of Pakistan".

They should develop this policy with every American or other forign national (diplomat or not) who tries to do anything "funny".

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH

The question is not if it is a nuclear facility or not. The point is why did he do what he did ??? Pakistan is a sovereign country. This is a Govt. institution. What is his job to get into this facility and if stopped enters in an arguement with security :hitwall:
