US B-52 bombers fly near Chinese made islands in South China Sea

The B-52s would be navigating in a region peppered with early warning radars. If the air defense networks on Guam can detect missile-laden H-6 bombers, one can bet the same relationship holds true with B-52s and China.

Yes; I presume you've also heard of a wonderful thing called radar.
Early warning radars mean nothing if you can't engage the aircraft. The US would also use extensive electronic jamming, cyber attacks, and MALD decoys on those radars. The B-52s would be escorted by US fighter jets as well.

The B-52s wouldn't be hauling so much EW equipment if USAF brass didn't know that the Chinese have ECM platforms as well. But seeing how B-52s flew over the islands on their own, it is pretty apparent that the flight was more of a political gesture than anything else; the Chinese response shouldn't lend it more credence than it deserves.

In the latest mission, which occurred overnight on Nov. 8-9, the bombers flew "in the area" of the Spratly Islands but did not come within the 12-nautical-mile zones that China claims as territory around islands it has built in the chain, said Commander Bill Urban, a Pentagon spokesman.

An non-event. By staying out of 12nm of Chinese airspace, US is actually conceding to the Chinese claim.

LOL , actually you embarrassed yourself

that's not escorting a ship , US destroyer conducting it's mission and Chinese destroyer just follow behind watching

your source also mentioned this "During the Lassen’s five hour transit, the crew were continuously warned by the shadowing destroyers to leave Chinese waters immediately" , a direction they didn't follow

and that was followed by this reaction "This stance was echoed shortly after the Lassen left the area when the U.S. Ambassador to China was summonsed over the incident"

it seems you didn't even read your own article , and just posted something to save face

but congrats again , you managed to embarrass yourself not me :enjoy:

and what is the range of those warning radars , because B-52 can launch its cruise missiles 1,000 km+ away

Then there wasn't a need to fly those bombers directly over the islands; this simly reiterates my premise that the B-52 flights were more political than not, which is supported by the fact that the Chinese never bothered to turn on their radars (which will detect B-52s in a network configuration).

Can any american answer me here, why didn't B-52, entered the 12 nautical miles area of these island, if US does not recognise these islands ?

By not entering the 12 miles area you are actualy recognising the chinese claim.

Shadowing a ship is the equivalent of escorting, you moron. LOL Nobody can forcefully escort a ship travelling in innocent passage which is what our American friend said during their trespassing. LOL

Shadowing provides the same level of observation of an intruder as does escorting, but the latter is usually more aggressive.

Good, good. We can expect some clash between US-CN here, so US will have a good excuse to convince its people to slap a harder sanction on CN :)

LOL do you even understand what escorting is?

You asked for proof thinking China did nothing, I gave you proof, you got completely and utterly owned and now to save face you say 'that's not escorting a ship, just watching'

Dude, if you don't want to get completely humiliated and owned in front of everyone, don't pick fights you can't win kid :p:

The ISIS-sympathiser is getting embarrassed and he is coming for more.

You specifically said that B-52s are not a threat to modern air defense networks. As a cruise missile truck with significant standoff ranges it absolutely is a threat.

US Navy version of NBA "trash talk and taunting", doesn't affect the ground reality in any way. Sign of frustration and powerlessness.

That seems to be the case. Any actions short of totally stopping China from building and fortifying those islands are just plain theatrics.

South China Sea Dispute: John McCain Calls On Pentagon To Explain Patrol

China has claimed the majority of the South China Sea. International maritime law states that a nation can claim water extending 12 nautical miles from its coasts as sovereign territory. U.S. officials said last week that the U.S. Navy avoided military drills that could have aggravated tensions with Beijing during the patrol by the destroyer last month, which tactic experts said could reinforce rather than challenge China's sovereignty claims, according to Reuters. If the destroyer did not conduct military drills, the passage would have reportedly resembled an “innocent passage.” Pentagon officials have given mixed descriptions regarding last month’s operation.

And about the US B-52 fly through:

US strategic bombers fly close to Chinese islands, ignore ‘get away’ orders — RT News

The Pentagon points out that it regards the flights near the Chinese manmade islands as fully legitimate because from a US point of view, the airspace over the islands is a part of international airspace. The US military spokesman added that the B-52s did not get within 12 miles of the islands.

Russian bombers flew off US coast and received an escort so is it some kind of a big deal that a single B-52 flew in SCS? Why should China feel threatened if the US don't get any anxiety from our Russian comrades right?
The American and those sucking up to them members are making an elephant out of a mosquito. Yeah so B-52 can carry cruise missiles and we have DF-26 to wipe out Guam. There's nothing to see so move along, China will continue to build infrastructure on our reclaimed islands and militarize them. What's the US gonna do? Bomb them?
