25 dead as Express jumps signal, hits goods train
Shrieks shattered the early morning silence on Tuesday as the Bangalore-bound Hampi Express overshot a signal and rammed a stationary goods train at Penukonda in Andhra Pradesh's Anantapur district, killing at least 25 sleeping passengers. More than 50 people were injured.
Four coaches derailed under the impact of the collision around 3.20am, while one coach caught fire. At least 17 passengers were charred to death in the short circuit-triggered fire that raged for more than two hours, rescuers said. Miraculously though, hundreds of passengers escaped, unhurt or with slight injuries, as the Hampi Express had slowed down to 40kmph for its two-minute halt at Penukonda. The train, which had left Hubli at 6pm on Monday, was scheduled to reach Bangalore at 6.10am.

It is four years since China started operation with high-speed railway system. Only an accident with dead in last year. I always heard Indians talk about the accident and laugh at chinese.
But what we saw is India railway has accidents almost every month.
And what made me puzzledl is India railway has an average speed of 50 km/h while China railway average speed is 250km/h.
China has a larger and much much much more complicated railway system than India's.
Why India has so many accidents. If India operate the same high speed railway which Chinese and Japanese use today, the trains in India will be death coffin.
