The Turkish Armed Forces (TAF) has dismissed 56 soldiers stationed in Libya after the troops filed a complaint against a commander on charges of bullying, Deutsche Welle Turkish reported on Tuesday.

The TAF terminated the contracts of the specialist sergeants after launching an investigation in to the complaint the soldiers submitted to the Presidency Communication Centre (CİMER), Diken said.

The soldiers are now facing a judicial investigation on charges of violating the Military Penal Code and could face up to three years in prison.

The soldiers accused their commander of physical and psychological bullying, with the complaint including details of the group allegedly being forced to collect the trash of their Libyan counterparts, according to the site.

Turkey in early 2020 began deploying hundreds of soldiers and thousands of Syrian fighters in support of the Libyan Government of National Accord (GNA) in its battle against forces of Libya's Russia-backed General Khalifa Haftar.

Ankara continues to maintain a military presence in the oil-rich North African country despite a cease-fire, citing its invitation by the internationally recognized government.

The soldiers’ claims included being forced to train through illness and chronic verbal abuse, including being told they were “nothing and did not deserve their salaries,” DW said.

The Armed Forces Command accused the soldiers of a "coordinated and planned effort to disturbing discipline in the unit,’’ as well as displaying attitudes and actions that are aimed at intimidating their admiral,’’ it said.

Imagine! Your soldiers are under a bad commander who bullies them, they complain to High Command and High Command treats them like traitors and sends them to jail. Great for morale. This is for all those who shout "Erdogan not dictator, elected leader".

Soldiers should not be sissies. Soldiers are supposed to be tough and obey orders. Good step.

What does that have to do with dictator or elected? Did morons like u shout dictator when abuse of soldiers case aurfaced in US and britain? You dnt need to worry abt morale, they will always be in high morale to wipe u ppl out.

There is a difference between soldiers being tough and treating them like trash, abusing and bullying them.

Have you heard of Russia's notorious dedovshchina tradition? There are videos of extreme abuse and bullying from the '90s and '2000s.

Officers should be considering their men as if they are their own children. Treating them like trash and destroying their psychology can lead to suicides or extreme behavior on the soldiers' side as well.

Such cases usually get dealt with fast in the West because there is a public outcry. Usually. Not always.

But 56 soldiers, not just one soldier,56 complaining about their officer and instead the government and High Command arresting them and having them face 3 years in prison, what does that do for morale? What message does it send? If it was a mutiny, then ok. But
apparently it's not a mutiny. And people shout "dictator Erdogan" because of his obsession to arrest or dismiss Army officers and soldiers just like that, ever since the 2016 coup. Imagine that! Land Army officers, soldiers,Air Force pilots and high ranking officers,Navy personnel.

Bullying leads to poor morale and poor performance. Who are you fighting for and in a firefight I would without hesitation given the chance kill the bully.
A bulky commander is usually a weak personality who is using his rank to degrade his juniors. A good leader commands respect through kind actions and discipline.

Every country deals with coups the same way, go and read history and educate urself. You dont need to jump in every Turkey related thread, only shows u are a dumb propagandist. See the miserable condition of ur country first, sick man of Europe.

And yet again you prove how pro-Turkish you are and how anti-greek. That's the truth. And you've seen me take part in many other threads in the forum and not taking part in many threads about Turkey. And you, yourself always jump around supporting Erdogan. Or do you want to tell me that you don't take part in threads bashing India?

The coup took place in 2016. It's 2021 and Erdogan still arrests or dismisses whoever he doesn't like in the Army or public sector by using the coup as an excuse. That is abuse of power. You're not a democratically elected leader anymore, you're a dictator who sends arrests orders and sacks people who don't go along with your propaganda and decisions.

Ofcourse im pro Turk, atleast when it comes to greece vs Turkey. I have also criticised Turkey in other threads. There is nothing wrong with that but u do ur propaganda in every thread abt Turkey. Now tell me how does a democratic leader deal with coups and terrorists?

Soldiers should have eliminated the tyrant

That would have been extremely dangerous for them because Turkey would have regarded that as treason and mutiny.. They would have to flee Libya enter Tunisia then keep running because Turkey has extradition laws with most countries.. MIT will chase them down and they are relentless. I think it is a life prison term.. Military rank order is no joke bro.. You gotta follow your commanders to death and that is the oath you took before entering the military

I don't do propaganda. I try to give my side of the story. Unlike certain other members who constantly talk about Turkey's "superiority" etc.

The coup was supressed in 2016. There were thousands of arrests, sacking and yet Erdogan continues still. The coup gave him the best excuse to get rid of anyone he doesn't like and concentrate more power in his hands. Who are the terrorists? Fictional FETO that is being blamed for everything? Erdogan will blame anyone and everyone he doesn't like as part of a secret organization plotting to overthrow him.

if the complain was from one or two soldiers even ten id said well they are not cut for the job . but when it come from 56 i start to think well maybe there is something more to it.
