MIRAMSHAH: The Taliban said Tuesday they would continue to target Pakistani security forces with suicide attacks as they claimed responsibility for the latest blast that killed 19, its spokesman said.

“We are targeting Pakistani security forces because the government has allowed America to launch drone attacks on us,” Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) spokesman Azam Tariq told AFP by telephone.

“Rather it is on the Pakistan government's behest that drone attacks target us,” he said.

“We will continue suicide attacks on security forces. Civilians should avoid proximity with them.”

Tariq claimed responsibility for Monday's suicide attack on a police station in northwestern Pakistan in which 19 people were killed.

Nine policemen and four schoolchildren were among those killed by the attack in Lakki Marwat in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, not far from tribal areas that are a stronghold of the Taliban.

“We carried out the Lakki Marwat suicide attack,” Tariq said, adding that the Taliban “regretted” the killing of schoolchildren in the attack.

“Our children are also killed in drone attacks,” he said.

The TTP frequently claims responsibility for attacks on Pakistani security forces but generally denies those that target civilians.

US forces have been waging a drone war against Taliban and al-Qaeda-linked commanders in Pakistan's northwestern tribal belt, where militants have carved out havens in mountains outside direct government control.

The US military does not as a rule confirm drone attacks, but its armed forces and the Central Intelligence Agency operating in Afghanistan are the only forces that deploy pilotless drones in the region.

Washington has branded the rugged tribal area on the Afghan border — part of which has now been hit by Pakistan's catastrophic flooding — a global headquarters of al-Qaeda.

US. should also regret for killing of "future suicide bombers" in drone attack, but keep continue Drone attack on Dad mom & Kids.

Taliban are playing a very dangerous games. On one hand, minorities are getting targeted to incite sectarian violence and on the other hand, they are alienating the civilians from the sec forces. Very soon, its possible that the civilians getting hit will start blaming the sec forces' presense in the civilian areas for the bomb attacks..

Parvez Musharraf had virtually signed on Death sentence for Pakistan in 01-02 by agreeing to join US and allies for War against Terror. American policy to combat terrorism is horribly flawed. US War room Strategists are responsible for creating massive anarchy & chaos around world. Any establishment in Pak will not be able to wipe this trail which US will leave behind. I am afraid Pakistan is going to die thousand deaths by simply agreeing to choose to fight against their own people, American way.

we dont know whwat happend behind doors, perhaps americans gave a warning to pakistan.

From this communiqué, the TTP seem to be quite a reasonable bunch: they have a beef with PA and GOP and ask civilians to avoid contact with these entities.

It was a matter of time before these militants rose up against the state. In 1994, there was uprising in Malakand led by Sufi Mohammed who wanted to implement Sharia Law. The movement turned violent and the security forces had to fight them to restore balance.

These people were just looking for a chance to implement Sharia over the whole country and they used this reason to do so. I am with the Musharraf and PA when they decided to join the war against these enemies of our state.

Knowing history, we had to deal with this now or later and its best now as we have an international coalition by our side.

Quite an absurd statement you are making here. You cannot judge them alone on what they say in their propaganda statement. Killing countless innocents is not the way of a reasonable bunch.

Another thing, what Pakistan Army does, we will stand by them as they are working in the interest of our nation. Why should we be dictated by some terrorist thugs who should all be six feet under.

Sounds perfectly reasonable when we flip the other side of the coin. I choose my children over other peoples children. Thats just the honest truth. And if their children keep growing up with the primitive hate that their fathers are teaching them, then my children will not have a future and neither will theirs. Religion can not harness the animal instincts we were born with. I think it should be high time that we choose which side of the coin we would like to be.

But isn't the TTP created by the Cia according to many Pakistani conspiracy theorists ?

In any case i am with PA..we have to back our soldiers against the lunatic weirdos.

Suffice saying that their 7th century conversion to Islam didnt change much..Banging head against the ground while keeping a long fussy beard is no good if you are a mindless mass murderer...such the folks of TTP.

Lot of countries are facing these internal threats. The fact is Musharraf/Pakistan didn't choose to fight these fringe elements instead they decided to join American War where the elements were America's enemy and not Pakistan's.

These are games played by the powerful or the powerless :agree: whatever happening now in Pakistan is culmination of Zia ideology, cutting & wounding INDIA,and building Terror training centers in the name of freedom fighters, planning to use these as strategic force viz a viz INDIA,whole planning got outta hand, now its even threatening the nations very own confidence & survival. Now these so called dumb*** are putting the blame on Americans, who r the first ones to come to rescue marooned masses,Its not Ex-Pres-Mushraf's alone is responsible, he too has weakness,or Pakistan should've been a powerfull rich country to tell American's to mind their buizzness:angry:

THE NATION SHOULD SUPPORT THE PA TO FIGHT THE FORCES OF DARK TO THEIR DEATH WITH ALL RUTHLESS MEANS AT ITS DISPOSAL,BECAUSE THESE MURDERERS DON'T UNDERSTAND ANYTHING OTHER THAN DEATH !!

They were the "Mujahideen" not TTP..
Talibaan are the children of afghan refugees who grew up in Pakistan..While they stayed at the charitable islamic schools, also coupled as orphanages.

Instead of being thankful to Pakistan, they turned against us...How sweet.
